here is the challenge of the day: anyone here have both the hk p2000sk and the new Walther p99c? How bout a photo of them next to each other to compare size and ergonomics.

How about a Photoshop genius here getting proportionally sized photos side-by-side?

I am in need of a new 10-shot 9mm for concealed carry off duty. I have narrowed it down to these two pistols. My main weapon is an HK USP .45f.

I like the fact that the HK and the Walther both have similar mag release operations. Both are on an "approved list." If I can't find one of either in a reasonable time, there is always a Glock 26. (Don't make me get a Glock!!!)

Buy a P99C and use the $300 you saved to buy ammo and supplies :D

I would like to get a P2000SK someday, but not when they are $800 vs $500 for P99C. My P99C is great and I carry it everyday. Ain't no way the P2000SK is worth $300 more

Sorry I can't help with the photo, and the P99C is a nice pistol, but I would get yourself a P2000SK in 9mm with the LEM trigger.

It isn't much smaller than the full size, but that makes it just right for me. Load out with Ranger T in 127gr or 147gr and you've got a great carry outfit.

Now, it's just a question of the $800 ;)

Finally got to fondle a P2000SK 9mm at Cheaper than Dirt today. I was disappointed. The finger grooves, with the finger extention magazine do NOT work for me. There is no room for my pinkie on the mag. The curve is too much and I have to put my finger under the mag.

Bad design. I would be forced to only have 2 fingers on the grip either way. The P99C is designed such that all 3 of my fingers are on the grip if I have then extention grip magazine inserted. Much more comfortable.

On the other hand, no I don't have to ever worry about finding the $800 to buy one :neener:

decided in the p99c

I have decided on the P99c. I called the Sioux City Scheels today, and the gun guy said the Walther p99c won't make it to their store until after the first of the year (translation = two months). He did had an SW99 compact in 9mm, which would be OK. I want the 9mm because I have other 9mm, including the Ruger P95 (a great desert combat weapon, hope it works out well with troops, guards or "friendlies.")

Mr. Weasel, have you found a good concealment holster? How does it do in your qualification courses? What kind of ammo are you using? We are issued Speer Gold Dots in our primary (.45 230 grain) and have to provide our own for secondary and back-ups. I was thinking the 124 grain Federal Hydrashok or the 124 grain Hornady Custom or TAP. Would you use the Winchester 127 +p+ Ranger LE ammo? Feel free to PM me.

I was also thinking of Meprolight night sights. Anyone know if the spacing on the rear sights is usual Mep. or the wide gap of the stock sights? I hope it is Mep. Love the Tru-Dots on my USPf .45, since I work 3rd shift.

Thanks.

I've been pondering about a new holster for the SW99 Compact 9mm I have on order, and I hadn't thought to check the S&W website itself. I'm still not used to the additional accessorizing available through them yet ...

I plan to be using our issued RA9TA 127gr +P+ loads, at least until we decide to adopt something else. My alternative load is either 147gr GS or GD ... or 124gr +P GS, if need be, depending on availability.

Any synthetic holsters

I really like the Galco FX7 or F7X holster that they make for the mini glocks. I e-mailed the company requesting a holster for the P99c, have not heard from them. Any other QUALITY kydex or uber-synthetic holsters out there?

I have a Safarilaminate pancake for my USP .45f, and I love that material also. I have the matching wide dress belt, and it keeps the USP (and the pants) up well.

More holsters

I did some searching, and it looks like Blackhawk makes at CQC Removable belt slide. It is for the standard p99 but is cut short enough for the compact.

Another is the Yaqui belt slide from G&G. Question, do these type of holsters get the gun close enough to the body, and what about printing issues?

Last one I found on the Blackhawk Industries is the Askins type. It seems to be a half pancake with a slot on the holster and then a rear belt loop to pull the pistol grip close to the body.

Any other options would be nice. It looks like holsters made for the SW99 compact will work, unless they are Kydex (accessory rail and trigger guard differences).

Any holster made for the 2004 p99s should also work if they are not too long.
