The thought never occurred to me until reading a recent article describing a Colt 1908 .25 automatic. In earlier Colt ads it stated: “…is particularly popular with women, its shape, size and weight providing most effective protection in an Arm that fits the feminine hand…”Now, I’ve got two pocket/B.U.G./concealers: a .32 & .380 and never gave much thought about it being somewhat womanly until NOW!
Do you feel your masculinity is threatened by carrying one of these “feminine” pistols? After all, Bigger is Better, NO? Hmmm…:banghead: :D

Back in those days men's pockets were much bigger and women's purses were much smaller.

Nowadays you're hard pressed to get a J-frame Smith in a jean pocket while the girls can almost pack a CAR15 (or at least a Mare's Leg) in some of the luggage that passes for a purse.

I refuse to carry a "man purse" so I carry a pocket gun (Kel-Tec P3at). I think like VA27 said, in the 1900 most guys walked around in suit jacket making it easier to hide a larger gun while women seem to have real small purses and little pockets.

I'm not a big fan of pocket pistols or anything, but even though I'll probably never carry one myself - I can't say I ever really thought of them as feminine... A few other things, maybe (ugly, and underpowered are a couple that come to mind. :neener: ) - but not feminine.

All jokes aside, as long as you are carrying, you're fine by me. Having a pocket gun sure beats begging for your life, curled up in the fetal position.

Get the Rohrbaugh R9 9mm pocket gun and you won't feel feminine or under powered. :neener: :what:

Girly pistol? The most devastating pistol ever produced was in .32ACP.

Gavrilo Princep used a Browning 1910 to assasinate the ArchDuke Ferdinand & his wife. This resulted in 8.5 million military deaths & unknown number of civilian deaths during WWI.

Thanks guys...My machismo is back in check....I just cancelled my trip to "Sweden"....;) What is happening to me??

Well, I guess it would take someone real sure of his sexuality to show up with this "trendy" range-bag.

Or maybe not so sure...;)

I just started carrying a .32 and I don't feel any more feminine with that under my blouse than I did with my Taurus Judge full of 000 buck and slugs under there. j/k

I agree, a .32 is a LOT better than begging for your life or counting on being able to knock him out with a rock at 7 yards. My throwing just isn't that good. Like my dealer says, "Everyone makes fun of my .32 but no one will let me shoot at them."

Sometimes it seems like the guys that insist on having a .45 may also drive a H2 (not a HMMV which is a very worthwhile vehicle, unlike a H2 or H3). I don't mean to knock anyones style, it's whatever makes you comfortable. I just get a little tired of the "manly" debate. That's why I got a set of pink grips for my 1911 when I shoot matches. Believe it or not, it does not affect my shooting, masculinity, or the size of my "barrel" if you know what I mean.

I just met a guy that always carries a 4" XD .45 with a spare mag OWB EVERY day. He also wears a 3-peice suit which makes his rig more concealable. I have to go without a jacket which limits my choices somewhat.

As with most gun topics, to each his own.

LOL that would be priceless to see peoples expressions in reaction to someone bringing their gun to the range in that thing.

hehe nice discussion.
I'd say that it doesn't make you a girly man, but that you may have some other, more deep rooted issues :)

As mentioned, range snobs will scoff at your puny .22, .32 or .380, but I don't see anyone willing to get into a gunfight with you!

Whatever is more comfortable and reliable for you is what I say!

Ever been flagged by a loaded BB/Pellet gun? Makes you a little nervous. A real bonified slug thrower, regardless of size, could save your life. Most muggings happen in personal space 0-36". You don't need Dirty Harry's antiaircraft gun.

Some say that firearms overall (especially bigger guns, larger calibers, longer bbls) are a substitute for phallic shortcomings.

I carry a 2 inch S&W 642, because I don't have to compensate for any lack elsewhere. :neener: :D :neener:
