Ok folks the title says it all let me hear the pros and cons for getting g a glock 19 or a lc9 main purpose will be sd/hd

Two very, very different guns. The Glock will outshine the Ruger in every way but shear concealability. The Glock is easier to shoot well, has better sights, better aftermarket, higher capacity, better trigger, a light rail, is only 3 oz heavier, unloaded, and if you've got a decent holster, it's easily concealed.

Which one you feel is better depends entirely on what your ultimate goal is. With that being said, Inebriated put it very well.

Not an apples to apples comparison.

You should have both.

G19 for home defense/nightstand

LC9 for carry, don't forget to bring an extra mag.

Better comparisons would be

Ruger SR9 Compact vs. Glock 19

Ruger LC9 vs. Glock 26

However if you can ONLY have 1 gun from the ones I listed above I would personally go with the Glock 19.

"SD/HD?"
Not enough info, for sure. Though I personally don't like them, the 19 would be the easy choice, just because you included hd.

I apperciate the replies guys I was leaning to the glock anyways so this seals it

Maybe check out a Glock 26. It is super-easy to shoot for a gun its size and might be a better compromise if you want a gun for both HD and SD. With the 12-round magazines, you can get a good hold on it or you can use Glock 19 fifteen round magazines with the grip extension piece for home defense.

This...

I could see a Glock 19 and a Ruger SR9c as an apples to apples comparison. The LC9 is really a much smaller sized pistol and a single stack magazine design. Very much like a KelTec PF9 (I use to have one), it's more like a gun you carry a lot but shoot very little. Go with a Glock 19, or if something smaller is desired, then a Glock 26.

Huh? Everyone told you they can't answer the question because it's not an apples to apples comparison, and that you didn't give enough info. How was there anywhere near enough info in this thread to "seal the deal?"
Keep in mind that poll results are often pretty useless unless there is meaningful discussion to back them up.

Guys I see your point but I am only interested in theses two it will mainly be for carry I like the idea of the lc9 yet in terms of rugged reliability the glock rocks and I like the fact that I can carry 15 plus 1 so glock is problly my going to be my choice

The trigger on the Ruger LC9 pistols I have tried was long, heavy, and generally poor. I will not have a gun like that.

Imagine the worst trigger ever.....like a Kel-Tec P11, but 10x worse.

That's what the LC9's trigger feels like (IMHO).

I have heard from others that the lc9 trigger sucks this has also affected my decision and pushes me to the glock

The trigger is quite possibly the worst trigger I've used on a new production handgun. At least for my hand...

G19

I love it, hate it, happen to carry it, happen to have staked my life on one a few times. It's said to be the most carried pistol in the world and I'd believe it.

The lc9 trigger is long but not heavy,(about 5lbs 9oz.avg).Much lighter than any stock j-frame revolver. If your used to revolvers like me the trigger feels good! The g-19 is superior in every way unless your looking for a 9mm that can be carried in a pocket, then the Ruger wins.

And if pocket carry is a concern, the Kahr CM9 is a much better option.... and usually the same price, or cheaper.

Unless you have tried them and found that the kahrs grip is too short and much harder for you to present from a pocket. The Ruger also holds 1 more round with standard magazines.

The Glock 19 is fine in terms of concealed carry comfort. It is also a very formidable, reliable and solid weapon. It is truly a force to be reckoned with.

This is an apples-to-oranges debate; while these guns both share the same caliber, they serve different roles. The Glock is designed to be a smaller duty type pistol while the LC9 is a subcompact concealed carry piece. For home defense the Glock would be the reasonable choice; easier to shoot and higher capacity. It can also be carried concealed with a bit of planning. I carried one for almost 15 years and never found it wanting.

I voted for the Glock. IMO the G19 is the best all around 9mm out there.
