I suspect Mike Huckabee will come out of nowhere and get the nomination. He then becomes POTUS. After which he bans all religions except for Christianity. He then forces a Christian theocracy upon our country and we can only dream of freedom as they oppress us with their biblical based knowledge. He then bans guns for non-Christians.

Wow. BS. And not even gun related BS at that.

I think that out of spite for Bush and mainstream GOP, there will be enough vote-splitters to hand the election to Hillary. I think there will be some pretty sweeping anti-gun legislation, liberal SCOTUS appointees, and DoJ appointees in the first 2 years of the all-Dem federal government. I think this will energize the right spectrum of America to throw them out in 2010, and in 2012, but too much damage will be done, and even if the conservatives retake congress or the white house in 2010 and 2012, they will not be able to undo all of the damage done by the Dems. It only takes months to create new restrictive gun laws, but decades to undo them.

If the Dems win the Presidency...quickly buy a lot of regular capacity magazines and auto-loading shotguns and rifles. Also try to get real poor, real fast. Or become a lawyer.

If the Republicans win the Presidency...send an e-mail every day reminding them that "The 'M1 Garand of Damocles' is Hanging Over Your Head".

Your poll is not accurate. There is roughly one million percent less damage to RKBA with a Republican President - unless it's Rudy. Then it is 400 thousand percent less damage to 2A by Rudy than Hillary or other Democrat. But that is not the whole story...

Unfortunately, A Rudy nomination will result in a very strong, Conservative 3rd Party candidate and a Hillary win - hence the media push for Huckabee to take out Romney and put Rudy in the lead. Also, the Clintons have mega dirt on Rudy (Why is he not a U.S. Senator, right now?) and Hillary will skate in with 38-40% of the vote in a 3-way race. Even more pathetic than her husband's 43%

These numbers are scientific, tested and proven. As our Democratic opponents say: "look it up!"

If Mike Huckabee becomes president both your guns and your religion is safe.
And how is my religion in danger in the first place?

I was responding to someone earlier who said Huckabee would, basically, make America a Christian society and outlaw everything else.

My comment was not meant to say Huckabee would protect any one religion, but rather he would pass no laws against any religion. It wouldn't be on anyones agenda or thoughts. Turn the other cheek and what not.

Also, what is wrong with a religious president? No matter who you are, you beliefs determine how you will act as President. Hillary has a set of beliefs, so does Ron Paul, so does Huckabee. Everyones faith and life affects how they will act.

I don't consider someone being Christian to be a bad thing, as many people apparently do. Saying that a Christian shouldn't be President if he's too religious is biased on your part and shows a lack of trust in others.

I'm not even religious and it doesn't play a big part in my life, but I support Huckabee's stances on nearly everything.

The latter shouldn't be too hard, considering how much money you'd be spending on the former.

I think the poll needs a few more options so I just boiled the frog, the frog is currently nameless.

I've heard more in the news and press about the Democrat candidates than the Republicans, as I've also heard more in the press about Democrats who carry guns than about Republicans who carry guns. (Do you like how I kept the political comment "gun" related????? )

I honestly could not name who the Republican candidates are who are currently in the active running, but I have been shopping for a new target gun recently. (In the side door  )

I still get Ron Paul's name confused with Ru Paul's, that could concievably be his ultimate downfall - name-misrecognition. Maybe he needs to go duck hunting with Cheney, and Ru Paul. Would be interesting to see how the press would handle that outing.

Okay, I think I'll duck and run from this one. Monday morning and I may not make it to Friday at this rate.

Obama wins and declares Shira Law. He issues AK47's to all believers (great way to get a free gun) and we have to wage war on the rest of the infidels. Hildabeast, as his second in command, imposes a tax upon all non believers who are forced to support her nationwide health plan. A win win all around for the Democrats! Chavez, having no one to complain about now withers up and skulks off. The middle east, appeased by the new muslim leadership in the US, drops the price of oil down to $.39 per barrel but we all die when the global temperature rises to above the boiling point. the last words we all hear are Al Gore's, saying he was right all along and he invented the interned for nothing. :D
I'm going to have another drink (hic!).:neener:

Ron Paul would be ideal from a 2ndA standpoint, Huckabee wouldn't be half bad either. Thompson is... well... Thompson. Rudy I don't trust at all, but he'd still be better than a Democrat, and I'd put McCain and Romney in the same boat with him.

If the ninth circuit, of all courts, says that the 2ndA is an individual right, I can't see a negative ruling from SCOTUS, I can however see them skirting the issue.

If the Dems try and push any gun control, it will cost them their majority, that's for sure.

I just dont trust Mike Huckabee to not use religion to put into place his beliefs. I dont trust Romney either.
Yes, Tecumseh, because anyone who would think of mentioning to G word must be plotting to institute a theocracy. I mean, all the founding fathers were atheists, right?

Me thinks they put some funny stuff in the water in Illinois :scrutiny:.

Republican candidate wins by narrow margin (because even most Democrats can stomach Senator Clinton only because she's a female candidate, and it is important to make a statement by selecting her to run... ...besides her husband was already the country's "first black president," so they don't need to nominate Obama), but RKBA will have already won significant SCOTUS case as an individual right. The issue is off the table for the next 4 years, except for the loosening of CHL laws in those states that already have them.

You didn't offer a poll answer in which there was any possibility for good news. It is not a realistic poll, and I didn't answer it.

With Obama gaining ground on Hillary I think it is possible that he will end up with the nomination instead of her. (thanks Opra:) ) This is good since he is less electable in a national election than her. She gets alot of support from the "a woman president would be neat" croud :barf:

Huckabe is also gaining ground fast in early states as real conservative and as generally likeable guy. He is far more electable in a national election that Obama. Lets not forget that governors have a far better track record of getting the big office than senators.

Ron Paul, while not having much of chance of getting elected will still help renew alot of peoples faith in an individuals ability to stand up for the constitution and be heard. The amount of support the man manages to get (money raised from REGULAR people, not the super wealthy and corprate entities and the "boots on the ground" support from those same people. I realize alot of his supporter are fairly out there, the normal I'm speaking of has less to do with the tinfoil content of their hats and more to do with their economic station.)

A good ruling from SCOTUS will do more to protect out 2nd amendment rights than any presidential candidate and I am very hopefull of this.

None of this will matter though when the Red Chinese army attacks us from tunnels prepaired by the Reptilian overlords.;)

Scotus rules the 2A as a collective "right", Anti-gun liberals in the legislature immediatly propose hundreds of new gun control laws and attmpt to implement UN small arms control policies.

Barrak Hussien Obama is elected POTUS by a 42% margin because the conservastive vote is split between those voting republican and those voting for a 3rd party out of principle.

The stock market goes into a death spiral in anticipation of the taxes about to be implemented by the new administration.

my $.02

Dems will win POTUS
Most Republican Congress members in blue states will be swept out of office
Many Republican Congress members in red states will have a 50/50 chance of getting booted

There will be more mass killings with “assault” rifles and pistols with high cap magazines.
SCOTUS will rule in favor of 2nd amendment as a individual right with restrictions, such as registration of firearms
There will be an attack at some public area and the Dems will try to pass new restrictions.

we shall see if the dems have changed thier tune on RKBA or if they are playing possum to win the presidency.

You can't defeat an arsonist by outlawing matches.

It's not even Christmas/Holiday yet and some are already defeated.

I think I'll buy some Desinex for de feet for Christmas.

Please start a new poll with a better selection.

Thread lock in three, two, one,....

Many were Deists. Deism was quite popular during the period of the Revolution, with trust in churches and revealed religion in general at a low. It is often referred to as "America's lost religion", as it fell from popularity almost overnight, and is largely unpracticed today. Many of our Founding Fathers may have held office in their local church, but their motivations may have been political... the churches were often also the courthouse, or city hall. Membership in the church was necessary to secure public office, in many areas. This is why we have a Constitution that forbids Congress from founding or endorsing a religion, and also forbids any test of religion for political candidates.

As for very religious candidates, today. If they can keep it to themselves, I'm OK with it. The problem is that they often cannot. Anyone remember the big "Sanctity of Marriage" hoopla? We do not need legislators to create a system of moral law... we already have one. Its called The 10 Commandments... Written and enforced by Almighty G-d Himself. The government need not get involved.

I can't support any candidate who calls himself a "conservative' and yet announces his desire to legislate morality into every private, and sensitive area of some people's lives. Or, for that matter, a guy proclaiming to be a pro-gun conservative who hails from anti-gun NYC!

4. Ron Paul, while I see him highly favored on THR, imho is a little kooky.
Most non-gun owners think gun owners are a little kooky.
(Sorry, guys. I have a hard time considering him as a serious candidate).
So does anyone who gives any credibility to legacy news sources. Such thinking has gotten us to where we are today.

Chuck Shumer leaves the Senate to become Attorney General.
Bill is appointed to replace him.

The socialist congress enacts total gun ban with retroactive penalties for possession, no grandfather clause and no amnesty. The bill is enacted on an "emergency" basis to become effective as soon as the President signs it. Hillary signs as soon as it gets to her desk and orders her ATF to begin a nationwide house to house confiscation of guns and round up of owners. All 4473 forms are confiscated from all gunshops, whose owners have been arrested under the new law as illegal weapons dealers. Armed with these, the ATF sets out on their mission!!
Gun owner concentration camps are set up across the country to house the newly declared terrorists per the enhanced Patriot Act.

That sounds a lot like the beginning of Red Dawn, minus the Cubans. Do we get to yell "Wolverines"?

I think 2008 could be a make-or break year for the 2A possibly starting with the Heller case in the SCOTUS and snowballing from there. I hope it rolls down the right hill.

If we're lucky, the NRA was awake on this one and some of its collections went to the right judges coffers, and hopefully it was enough to pick the right slope. ;)

Mugsie, if Shirah law was passed you wouldn't need a special tax for non-believers, because the Qu'ran literally says non-believers living in a Muslim land must pay a tax. (Before getting their heads cut off)

And it's true many were Deists, but that still remains a monotheistic religion. It mostly maintained there was a God but he didn't deal directly with Earth. Like a Set it and Forget it type deal. Though that doesn't by any means imply they're not understanding, accepting, and embracing of Christian values.

No matter what the liberals and the ACLU try to tell you, America was founded on Christian values. It was discovered by Christians. Populated by Christians. It's part of America.

I believe the people who were here "first" might want to talk to you about this. Or dont they count due to the "official" time line? :)

So this continent was called America before Christian Europeans came here?

BobbyQuickdraw was talking about America, not just the landmass that would later be called America.
