So about a year ago, I bought a Remington 700 Varmint SPS in .22-250 (Vented stock with 26" heavy barrel). I got it in a package with a case, scope and mounts, and sling. I think I paid around $650-$700. I thought it was what I wanted, as a bunch of me and my buddies were gonna get into coyote hunting, but that never happened. So I have only put a box of ammo through it. I have now decided I want an AR, and want to sell my 700. What price do you guys think I should ask/expect for? Someone already offered me $500. Also, I know Gander Mtn. (Where I bought it) has a trade in program if you want to buy a new rifle, think they would even be worth asking how much?

They are selling them without the case here in Phoenix this weekend at Dicks for $499.00. I've bought two 223 SPS rifles for that in the past and a 204 SPS Varmint (SS) for $549.00.

Yes, if you look around you can find them pretty cheap. I paid $460 for a 700 SPS Stainless with case in November.

You won't get a lot for it, hang on to it for now.

500 is a fair price. Incidentally, I'm selling my lightly used SPS varmint in .308 for $520 to a coworker w/ a modified bolt knob and w/ an aftermarket picatinny rail.

Much more than that and you're too close to a new-in-box gun.

I'd definitely let it go for $500...Dick's has the package minus the case for $499 every other week. Every now and then, you can shave another 50 bucks off with a coupon or rebate.

I have bought a couple of Rem. 700 Long Actions to use as donor actions for builds and have had less than $375 in each. Used, they both came with a scope a either hard case or accessories. One had a @40 round count and the other 10 round count. I sold off the scopes and accessories and had @$200 in each action...then off to the Gunsmith for truing I'd go. They were both SPS Black Matte finishes at that price though, unfortunately no SS...... A NEW Remmy 700 Action is over $400...and that is JUST THE ACTION!
