Help me make a decision..

I ordered a Para Companion with the 3.5" barrel today, but it won't be shipped for a few days.

I'm second-guessing my decision to get the 3.5" barreled model, wondering if it's too short to get adequate velocities.. and wondering if I should call back and change my order to the 4.25" barrel..

The two I narrowed down was the 3.5" barrelled Companion, and the 4.25" barreled CCW..

Anyone have and pros/cons, with these barrel lengths and models?

So long as the grip lengths are the same, I would go for the longer bbl. The grip is the hardest part to conceal. 1911's usually run better with longer bbls, your ammo performance will benefit also. The pistol will be more controllable with the longer bbl. That said, there are reliable sub-compact 1911's out there. Seems to be a hit or miss thing though. I had a Kimber Ultra that ran fine. I have seen many posts to the contrary about the same model. Good luck!

I carried a C7.45 LDA Companion for many years and was pleased with it. My personal preference is to longer barrels for the higher muzzle velocity but concealing a weapon is easier with a shorter barrel.

There is a measurable difference in velocity between Government Model and Officers Model barrel lengths but I doubt that there is a significant difference between the Officers Model and a Commander length barrel.
