ToadPS, how you got three is a mystery to me.
All three are from the KC Cabela's. I had worked there but left a few months before I bought them. This was before they jacked the price up, while no one was real sure what kind of "legs" sales would have for the LCP.
You just have to know the rules. At that time KC Cabelas would Hold a gun 5 days if you just reserved it over the phone; no deposit required.
I was in looking at guns and asked them if they had any LCPs. The Outfitter looked it up in the computer and said they had two but both were on Hold. I asked him to check and see how long they had been on Hold. At this time (might have changed Hold procedures now) the dates were hand written on the Hold tags so he had to go check the actual gun box.
He came back with one and said this one is past 5 days and so was the other one. I just said I'd take both of them.
That's how I got the first two; just knowing the hold rules and being ready to buy immediately. They're so busy that they don't go through looking for expired Holds every day. It was pretty lucky really.
At the time I bought the pair, I put in a "special order" for another one. That just put me in line for a purchase the next time any shipped to the store from the Distribution Center. A month or two later they got 5 and they called and said do you still want it. I went down and picked it up. I think 3 others were before me so only one went into stock and it probably sold that day.
So, self, wife and son all have one now.
I'm cool for pocket pistols until I see a 9x19 the size of the LCP that doesn't cost any where near as much as a Rohrbaugh.
I think we'll see some in the not too awfully distant future. When the marketing guys finally wake up and smell the coffee, things get done in a hurry.
They've finally figured out there's a huge market for small pocket pistols; LCP sales probably opened a lot of eyes. Now the brighter ones will do some research (maybe in places like this) and find out that a lot of guys would like more power than a .380 in an LCP size pistol.
So, in my optimistic view, I think a few firms will give it a try.
If they do, and it's a decent pistol, I'll put in a special order for 3 at Cabela's.
