I'm looking for the "perfect" bag. I only take about three guns to the range on any given day. I'd like to find a bag that will hold my weapons, ammo, safety glasses amd muffs etc. Not looking for something I need to pay FedEx to carry for me or that is so obnoxious that they'll ban me from the range.

Something functional and durable at a reasonable price.

Thanks, I figure some of you out there have found the bag that that works for you, thats what I'm looking for, a bag that'll work for me.

Cheaper Than Dirt lists what they call a "bug-out bag" for about $20. Made by an outfit called Condor, no doubt from the PRC. Still a very good, very well made bag. I bought three of them, one for each serious rifle, and keep them stocked up. All I do is pick up the correct one and walk out the door with the particular rifle. Nothing's perfect but these suit me and the price is definitely right.

Usually my pistol range bag is just the old GI tool bag; carries ammo, tacks, paper plates for targets, earplugs on a string, timer, and tape. If I'm wearing one gun, one more in the bag gives me two total.

I always get a kick out of these $90 bags companies try to sell you. I'll bet they don't sell too many in the next year with the economy under stress.

Tawcat - I don't know what kind of price range you consider reasonable, my bag prolly would NOT fit in that "reasonable" range but I have been very happy with it. It is a Dillion Precision, it has a large open main pocket with 3 small pockets on the interior walls (2 on the side and 1 on the end. Those pockets are great for ammo storage. It also has a pocket on each side (outside), one has slots for safety glasses, mags, ink pens, and other misc stuff, as well as another small paper pocket on the far outside. The opposite pocket has a removable gun rug in it, and will hold 2 weapons, one it the rug and one outside. I have no problem carrying 3-5 pistols and about 200-300rds of ammo plus all my accessories in it, including 3 pair of glasses, and 2 pair of muffs. Well, no problem other than it weighs about 60-70lbs with that much stuff in it. The only drawback I have found is the price, I bought it about 5yrs ago and it was ~$95 then.:what:

If you watch Midway's website, they will run a house brand bag for ~$30-$40 that looks pretty nice. I don't know how good the quality is on it, but it looks nice for what I would call a reasonable price.

If you would like, I can take some pics of my bag for ya. I know my writing, and descriptive skills are not the best.

Best Regards,

As noted above, Midway's got a bag and it's currently on sale for $40. I don't have one, but 165/169 reviewers give it five stars. I've got a couple of Allen bags that I bought at Wal-Mart for $20 apiece. They're regularly used and heavily loaded, and I've not had any problems.

I have a big 'cop' bag, that's about 20"x10"x8", with zippered pockets on the inside and out, and a divider panel in the middle. It's become crammed with so much crap, I've decided to get two more bags. One for cleaning stuff, one for ammo and range stuff, and one for misc parts I have pulled on and off guns.

If you have an Army Surplus store near you check it out. I bought several bags - I think they were tool bags. They come in black, OD, diff types of camo and sizes. VERY durable and CHEAP!

Midway is the greatest value bag on the planet. Nicest bag I've ever owned. Mag holders, pistol cases, you can take the center, divided bag out and use it on it's own, water bottle holder, brass holder. Just tough to beat.

Until last Dec. I was making due with a backpack sorta gun bag, then I received this for Christmas:

I could not be happier with it. It's tough, well laid out, someone took the time to think about what was going into these bags and how best to arrange the space. I'm storing five handguns, a .22 conversion kit, ammo, ear defenders some holsters, target markers a simple tool kit. There's a special pocket for mags that's slicker'n snot. Midway makes good stuff, this one's on sale for $40. For 3 guns you'll have room for all the extra stuff (and room for future purchases). Midway also carries Bulldog and CED, both get good marks.

edit: I have no affiliation with Midway. And I'm not in the habit of rave reviews, just that once in awhile you get something that really works well.

Thank you to all

Well I am surely going to look at the "bug out bag" and the one from Midway. I've found over the years the more expensive does not necessarily mean better!

Thank you all for taking the time out to post a reply.

Holy Crap!!!!!!! Just got my Midway bag today. I am impressed. For the money one surely can't beat that bag. I wasn't expecting something that BIG. But for sure it'll hold everything I need for it to carry and then some. Only problem I might encounter is finding someone strong enough to carry it with all my stuff!

Seroiusly though, I like the nifty pull out bag. So when I go to the range with only one or two guns, that little bag will serve the purpose.

Thanks for the advice.

You'll find that same exact Midway bag with different names on it and widely varying prices. No telling who actually makes it, but I love mine. And yes, it can hold so much that you can't lift it!

I ordered a Midway bag last week, should be here on Thursday. I have high hopes for it after reading all the opinions here.

hey guys - i was just at walmart and they have a nice bag like the midway for $20. i went there for a riffle bag. I lucked out and got a discontinued camo case for $3.50!!!
The case is nice and thick and made by allen. Its made from tough material and fits my gsg5 perfectly without clip. its longer than my gsg5 so i can also use it for my other riffles. They had skinny ones and then they had a wider one - the wider one was discontinued.

def worth buying!!! check to see if your local walmart has one.

Blah, I use this

Keep the mags in the front panel; the main space has dividers in which i keep individual pistols (in holsters) stacked. I can keep 7 pistols (compact and full size) with clips nicely secured. I also have a bottle of lube and patch handy too. The tackle box (while odd) is nice cause it keeps everything handy, organized and secure. The ammo usually goes in a separate bag for me, the nice part of this tackle box is everything is nicely organized/secured in place.

just my .10 cents........
