Sorry Rudy, I'll vote Dem rather then you!

What's new? I don't think Rudy has any great prospect of winning votes from THR subscribers. What hasn't been said already? What old dirt hasn't been pummeled to death?

When Rudy concedes his defeat

I will "move on"
I have met many conservatives who had no clue what a menace Rudy is.

I appreciated the reminder. I remember the wave of nuisance lawsuits, but didn't remember who-all was behind them.

Rudy is a scumbag. Not very Highroad comment I know but gimme a break, America's Mayor? Come on already!

I must agree. I won't vote for a Democrat, but I cannot see Rudy as the lesser of two evils in this case. I suppose the Libertarians will finally get my vote if Rudy is on the Republican ticket. We may lose either way, but at least I can go down with my honor intact.

Rudy is a 9/11 political opportunist. Nothing more. He will misuse RICO and Patriot Act laws if elected.

Plus, he is pond scum. His first of three marriages was to his second cousin.

Guiliani is a fascist.

If he turns out to be the Republican nominee, I will vote for a third party candidate. Hillary, Obama or Guiliani would be equal in my mind, none of them worthy of my vote.

If the Libertarians don't field a candidate, I'll write in Dr. Paul.
I see no difference between Hillary, Obama, or Rudy.:barf:

Yep, a choice between Giuliani and Hillary/Obama will mean a write-in for Ron Paul.

I couldn't hold my nose tightly enough to vote for either main party choice.

If it's Giuliani and any Democrat other than Richardson, I'll just sit this election out. I don't like Paul any more than I like Giuliani or Clinton.

I'll vote for Rudy when ...

We tell others to vote for pro-2A candidates ... will we practice what we preach? If so, Rudy will net get any of our votes.

But, to force us all into hypocricy - there is the spectre of Hillary and Obama occupying the white house as prez and vice prez. Will that 'bad dream' force you into voting for Rudy?

That's how our rights are eroded away ... by people who are scared and won't vote their conscience. It's what politicians do ... so shame on use if we do that.

Vote your conscience, my friends, even if it means a 3rd party or a write-in.

We need a powerful grassroots effort to elevate Thompson because otherwise all the other VIABLE candidates are frightening in so many ways. I agree with Paul on many issues, but that viability issue keeps coming up.

"I won't vote for Ron Paul because he is not a viable candidate."

Some of you smart folk help me out here: Is that more likely to be an example of circular reasoning, or self-fulfilling prophecy?

I'd say it's an example of him calling it like he sees it.

By way of an example, say that the same guy who says RP is not a viable candidate were witnessing a jet airliner take off.

Say that in his non-expert estimation, the jet wasn't going to sucessfully make its climb to altitude, he just doesn't like what he is seeing.

If the plane, as is extremely likely, goes lawn dart, crashed and burns, would it really matter if he had "urged it on to make it above the trees" or "prayed for a good outcome?" IOW, would it matter if he supported it or not since it was never going to make it barring a rather improbable miracle?

Some ventures are just ill-fated from the start. Perhaps instead the pilot should have figured out he was never going to make it above stall speed before taking off?

Nah. It's more fun to blame the spectators of the wreck for not sending enough positive vibes to a flight of fancy launched on an ill-considered whim.

Geoff beat me to the whole "intrusion of logic" point I was going to make, but I feel morally obliged to defend my post personally.

As a voter, I am not a helpless observer in the political process. I have a vote to cast:
1) I can cast that vote for the guy who looks best on TV.
2) I can vote for the guy who I hear is raising the most money.
3) I can vote for the guy who is most likely to win against whoever is on the other side that I find most repugnant.
4) Also, I could just say "to hell with it" and not vote at all.
5) Or, I can vote for the guy who most accurately represents the things I believe my country should stand for.

By comparing RP supporters to the observers of a plane crash, I am afraid you are trying to steer them toward any of the first 4 choices rather than #5. I don't care for such tactics.

Good politicians are not fueled by prayers and vibes like your magical, ill-fated plane. Good politicians are fueled by good policies which gain them supporters who will vote for them even if they don't look good on TV.

Mr. R--
Good post, and welcome aboard.

Yes, there are a lot of nay-sayers.

Fortunately, there is a way to go yet, and quite likely, a few bumps in the road.

That said, Rudy is not a conservative or a Republican, and will not get my vote either.

I agree 100% that Gulliana is a political opportunist. If it wasn't for 9/11, he'd be a nobody.

Funny thing is, since the 9/11 attacks targetted NYC, he claims to be an expert on terrorism.

I don't really understand that remark. In what way is Paul like Giuliani or Clinton?
Seems pretty simple to me.

I said I didn't like Paul any more than I like Giuliani or Clinton. What's obscure about that?

I didn't say I dislike him for the SAME reasons I dislike Giuliani and Clinton. I said I didn't like him any MORE than I like them. In fact, I dislike Giuliani for different reasons than I dislike Clinton.

I swear to you on my life that I won't vote for ANY one of them.

Clear now?
