I just bought a Remington 510 Targetmaster at a pawn shop and love it. It feeds from a detachable 5 round magazine, but everything I have found online refers to the 510 as single shot only. Did someone throw a 510 barrel on a 511, or have I been fed false information about all 510's being single shot?

I talked to Remington and they told me that all 510's are single-shot, so I guess at some point in this thing's life (the barrel, at least, is from April 1942) someone put a 510 barrel to a 511 receiver, but the stamp is on the barrel. Still, for $100 at a pawn shop I couldn't be happier.

I've got a 511 that's an absolute tack driver. AFAIK it's the same barrel on most of them, just different actions (Single vs magazine) and sights that set them apart. But I could (and most likely) am wrong on that lol

I got it as a gift to give to my best friend for his birthday next weekend, but I've fallen in love with it in the mean time. A good smooth bolt-action is so much more fulfilling than a semi-auto, and these old Remington .22's are beautifully made guns. More accurate than I am, to boot.
