This is my first rifle and it's a 30-06. I have a Bushnell 4200 elite 2.5-10X40 scope on it. I have sited it in using Hydro Shok 165 gr. rounds at 200 yds. My question is this:
With that size bullet and being able to shot comfortably at 300 yrds., is that enough to put down say a black bear, elk, or moose? I live in Virginia but in the future will hunt the mid west and northern Michigan. Thanks for any and all advice.....

congrats on the rifle - its a beautiful gun.

for ammo, look to about any 165 or 180 grain bullet, run a few accuracy tests w/ various kinds, then pick your favorite, zero your scope, and go huntin'.
