I was shooting my Buckmark today, used cci standard, federal bulk no problem. Tried remington golden 550 6 th round exploded when I pulled the trigger. Destroyed rear sight base, guide rod, firing pin, block that holds firing pin, and powder burnt the heck out of my support hand. Recoil was stout for a .22. Picked up spent brass 4 ok, fith was cracked and head was bulged, the one that exploded left nothing but head in my mag well. Looked like case head separation on a centerfire case. Any one everbhavethis happen? I have had failure to fires and under powered .22, but never over pressure.

I have found a couple golden bullets that were dented so bad in the case that they probably wouldn't even chamber, heck I know they wouldn't chamber
Squib load stuck in the barrel on the 4th shot? Stuck again on the 5th, and 6th was too much?

Yep saw some pics of Rem bulk pack bullets on another forum that were bulged so badly that there wasnt even a rim left. Others just disintegrated in the chamber. They seem to have left the quality out of QC and many people wont use them.
Please post the lot number on the box if you can.

No bullet stuck in barrel, no squibs. Contacted Remington they are with me and seemed to be quick to take blame. I have them the lot number, they said it was made last August. Also said that they were changing powder and cases on that run. They said they would also pay for all repairs.

Remington golden bullet 22 once was on par with super X and Federal, but lately the bulk packed variety hasn't been very reliable. It was likely a bulged case that wouldn't fully chamber, but the disconnector should have preventing firing while out of battery.
Sorry to hear about the gun, but glad no one was hurt and impressed with Remington stepping up.

One of the fellows at my gun club had a similar experience. He was firing Remington ammo in his Buckmark during a Bullseye session when the rim ruptured on the cartridge. It blew off the extractor. Don't know what caused it the report didn't sound any different than his previous shots. There were about 12 of us on the line at the time with myself and about five others firing Buckmarks. I don't know if it was a problem with the ammo or the gun but we've fired thousands of rounds through Buckmarks there with no problem before or since this one.

Shame you didn't search here. Please do now as I started a thread a while back about the same thing. More chimed in and replied but the short story is I got a refund and my 22A wasn't damaged. They did say my 22A fired out of battery in the letter but it is total BS. Never had or have since an issue with other ammo.

My Ruger Mark III had numerous FTF with Remington Golden. As it was a brand new gun, I called Ruger and was told that the Mark III didn't like Remington Golden. In fact, they told me what the ammo was that was causing the problem BEFORE I told them. Worked ok in my .22 revolvers but Federal Bulk from WallyWorld has never flinched in the Ruger so pretty much use that in all of my .22s now.

As with rust collector in post #9, I remember Remington Golden used to be a great .22 ammunition better'n Winchester SuperX in my youth (long ago). I don't know what happened to them, but I suspect either Remington is using worn-out equipment past the "replace by date" or the management has followed the usual modern "efficency" model of firing the expensive employees who knew what they were doing and hiring minimum wage slugs in their place.

I used to buy RGB for my Remington 552, on the assumption that Remington ammo would be best for a Remington firearm.
Boy, was that a mistake.
I experienced every kind of ammo related failure there is with that junk. And this was a dozen years ago. Other ammo worked fine. I'll never buy Remington 22LR ammo again. As you all have witnessed with this thread, it's still junk.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to the post, I have been working 16 hr. days and it doesn't leave a lot of time to do much but get a few hours of sleep. THE LOT # IS AS FOLLOWS M22LC1237. I did not write in all caps. because I am yelling, ha ha ha. Thanks for all of your kind posts. I am pretty sure that no bullet lodged in barrel I was shooting at about 10 yards and was watching bullet strikes on target. I will try to post some pics of my poor gun, I am new to this and will have to fiddle with it a bit. Thanks again.
