But to answer the OPs question. Most often, drop the magazine, Pull the slide to the rear, Lift the rear of the slide and then slide it forward off the barrel.
You really don't want to do more then that. The frames and slides are made of pot metal (cheap) and wear out over time. If it works, just use it as a plinking gun.
