Many of you have seen my animated map of shall-issue states:
http://www.gun-nuttery.com/rtc.php
A few years ago someone asked if they could include it in the Wikipedia article Concealed carry in the United_States. I said yes.
Since then there have been repeated attempts by Wiki admins to have it removed under various pretexts. The last time it was because its use hadn't been permitted by the author. Hell, I'm the author, I granted permission, that should have been enough. But I jumped through the hoops to formally release it under the Creative Commons license, uploaded it to WikiCommons, and finally managed to get the image restored.
Now there's an admin who has had it pulled because it violates Wikipedia's "Verifiability" policy. Claiming that my sources aren't "uninvolved". As if any newspaper reporter was, on this issue.
What I would like to do is to be able to provide cites to published newspaper reports for every transition in the map - an article for every state that changed from may- or no-issue to shall-issue (and two articles for Alaska, one for when it went shall-issue, and another for when it went Vermont-carry.)
Thing is, that's a lot of work. If folks could give me a hand, search out their own state, and email me a cite, it'd help a lot. I'd prefer online links, but citations to the printed paper will work (and will probably be all we will be able to get, for the states that transitioned prior to 1994.)
It's clear that my little image is chapping the ass of more than one Wiki admin, and I think it does us good to have it there. Help would be appreciated.
