Ruger LCP - Reliable SD Ammo Choices

For what it's worth, I have about 300 rounds through my LCP. 200 of PMC Bronze, 100 Remington Golden Saber 102gr. Zero failures.

have never found any ammo that won't feed in my LCP. i guess i just got a good one, but mine is dead nuts reliable with anything you load it with. has never, ever malfunctioned. i don't carry it often because it's a POS to shoot compared to my sig 238, but i can't argue with it's reliability.

I currently have some 88gr Remington Express jhp in my p3at, and they feed very well having a fairly round bullet. No one seems to have much to say about them though. Definitely more oomph to them than flat nosed WWB. I was thinking of trying some of the Fiocchi jhp but haven't got them ordered yet.

Easy Folks … people come here looking for useful info-motion not to read macho chest thumping :barf: opinions are like boogers every one makes um … some are sticky and some are crunchy but we all make um and what works for you may not for me so I’ll try ur suggestion and make up my mind of what I think off yours and if it will work for me in mine  then :neener:

Once you start talkin aboot boolits and calibers and makers and such there’s cans a worms a plenty :cuss:

There’s lots ah web sights to go to and see what their jelly shots look like … funny how you don’t always see the same results very often either … though they all use aboot the same water filled jugs, soaking wet paper, cardboard boxes, wooden planks, or some form of a mixed up concoction of jello :scrutiny:

So a while back I too was foundering the same thing as the OP’er for my LCP and did some reading around. So IMHO I came up with this … I found some Winchester Ranger T-Series 380’s at a gun show and bought 2-boxes of 50/r for $28. ech. Got some WWB FMJ-FN, Remington UMC FMJ-RN, Federal FMJ-RN, Hornady Criticals, and shot a bunch of all of them out of my LCP and they all worked without one issue. So thanking a teacher because I could read a bunch of stuff on several different options and looking at a bunch of tested boolits dug out of different test sub =straights noticing how deeply their estimated penetration and expansions was … and since I don’t know what the real world is goin to be like if I ever do need my pocket pall … I stager starting with a Winchester Ranger T-Series followed by a WWB FJ-FN followed by a Winchester Ranger T-Series … etc … so that makes me feel warm & fuzzy though YMMV …………….. might I add that I’m going to get some Buffalo Bore Standard Pressure 380 HC-FN to try and replace the WWB’s with it if they work’s for me that is

Kind of went off track, into FMJ -vs- HP, fortunately it came back to reliabilty. My experience with 4 different .380's (2 P3AT's, Colt Mustang, and LCP) is that your pistol will tell you what it likes. My LCP may love something that yours won't tolerate. I shoot it in with WWB FMJ, once I know it functions with standard FMJ, then I experiment 20 rounds at a time with any and all of the ones suggested until my pistol and I find our favorite.
