Has the American Rifleman ever published disassembly instructions for the S&W 1076 (third generation, decocker) pistols? I looked but couldn't find it, but there are gaps in my back copies.

Thanks for any assistance!

Very grateful. Have one incoming from KYI and anticipate it will need thorough cleaning.

As a partial alternative/supplement, what do you think about using an ultrasonic cleaner instead of total strip-down?

Excellent for cleaning. However, advantage of detail stripping is that it allows for visual inspection of parts. Ultrasonic cleaning has its place (for cleaning) but don't forego the annual inspection of firearms for wear, tear & replacement of parts.

Ummmm, hate to ask...but I think that the instructions linked to did not include info on R&R'ing the mag catch? Seems someone chose to reverse the mag catch on my 1076 (maybe they thought the factory had it backwards? ;) )

Would it be possible to trouble you for the quick & dirty on that? Many thanks!

Dunno off the top of my head. It'll have to wait until Monday when I'll have a chance to lookat my S&W.

Well, no google -- but found the answer. Depress the plunger and unscrew the button; take care not to lose plunger!

Turns out the mag catch itself is not reversible, so I'll need to order the correct part from S&W. Yikes, who knew??? :scrutiny:
