I'd also look for a used M-10. S&W has made (literally) millions of them, and most are still in service, or for sale at VERY reasonable prices. I was issued one a few years back that was made in 1961, was missing about half its finish, and looked pretty rough. Lord only knows how many rounds had gone through it before I got it. I tend to practice with my duty gun as much as I can, and I started reloading for it immediately. Then I developed a serious addiction to shooting bowling pins, back when I had a nearly unlimited supply of them. In one year alone, I shot 30,000 +P loads through that gun, and more than 68,000 over five years. All were 158-grain plated bullets over a stiff charge (not sanctioned) of WST. The gun was just as tight, and a lot slicker, when I turned it back in last December.
I'm looking for another gun just like it. Nothing against the new guns, but for the money, a used M-10 is about as good as it gets.
