I bought a sigma. ( I know my fault but I like it) mostly because of the rebate. They don't honor the rebate and when contacted, customer service plays dumb and says sorry and thats it. I don't want the cash i want the 2 mags offered with the first rebate that was going when I got mine. The one I sent them my receipt for. I guess they screwed enough people that they had to offer the $50 cash back to entice more folks into buying for the rebate. I believe this will be my last new smith and wesson purchase. I will consider used but will not trust a warranty to a company that doesn't honor something as cheap and trivial as magazines. What happens if you return a broken firearm? Sorry sir we don't know what to tell you I'M SORRY. Buy more and have a great day. due to customer service i'm soured on s&w. Now i'm done with my rant.

So, the rebate no longer includes the 2 mags? Would this be true for the M&P as well?

When did you buy the gun? I bought a M&P 45 and got my free mags quickly and without any problems. I do not remember the date, but do remember I had to hurry up and get my info sent in because the rebate was about to expire. I want to say it had to be into Smith&Wesson before the end of August, but I could be mistaken. Unless Smith has extended the rebate it has expired.

The rebate has changed form. The old rebate was $50 cash plus two free mags. When they extended the rebate, it became an either/or.

No sense in beating up S&W because you failed to read the details of the rebate. It's still pretty sporting of S&W to be offering this rebate, and there are thousands and thousands of happy customers who have read the rebate forms and received exactly the swag they expected.

current rebate is available for qualifying guns bought from October 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008. Rebate claims have to be postmarked by Jan 15, 2009.

There's not enough info in your post to be certain, but it sounds like perhaps you qualified for the original rebate but didn't apply for it before it expired, so now youre trying to get something through the current rebate. (Maybe not, but that's how it reads.) If your purchase doesn't fall into the 10/01/2008 thru 12/31/2008 time bracket and theyre still offering to throw you $50, I'd say they're treating you better than they have to.

I totally agree with Hanafuda on this issue. Sounds as if you
didn't bother too send in the original rebate form in a timely fashion.
So, when it expired you applied under the terms of the new form;
which as stated, has a different time frame. :scrutiny:

I applied for the deal they were offering on 1911's, at the time of
the first rebate. It was purchase any 1911, and receive a free
DeSantis leather holster and mag pouch at NO charge. I'm happy
too report that I received this $90 value in 'bout two weeks after
sending in the coupon along with a "PAID IN FULL" receipt. ;)

I too, think S&W is doing right by offering up $50 dollars to you;
if you did not follow the original directions after your purchase. :eek:

Why don't you just take the cash and buy the magazines with it?
:)

I got the 2 mags for my S&W M&P 40c in a little less than a month and $30.00 for my 442 in about 3 weeks. No complants with S&W.

When you follow the rules S&W is very good about honoring the rebates. I have received all the rebates I have sent in for in a timely fashion.

Why doesn't S&W just put two more magazines in every box?

There are various reasons. First, because such offers are usually time and product specific looking to boost sales of a particular line or model. If you start including two more mags with Sigmas, consumers will expect two more mags across the entire line. Because rebates and other mail-in offers tend to entice buyers, but typically a large number do not redeem them, manufacturers get the benefit of increased sales without the full cost of the promotion. Finally, rebates allow you to effect stock that is already at retailers.

I have been fighting with them over the ORIGINAL rebate which was only 2 mags and nothing more. I followed the instructions and mailed it in 2 months before the deadline. All I get from s&w is oops. In my opinion this is bad customer service. I'm happy to hear some folks got what they where supposed to

Also sorry for the confusion but they didn't offer me $50 I was under the impression that the 50 was now included with the mags in the rebate adding more into the deal that folks won't get. There has been no attempt by s&w to make this right. Live and learn I guess

this is the first i've heard of S&W not honoring their rebate. i've dealt with S&W customer service in the past, and they've always gone above and beyond what's expected. not saying you're lying, but it's hard to believe.

This was my first time dealing with them and I remain very unimpressed.

They sent me $50. for having bought a Lew Horton gun. It WAS a S&W performance center Lew Horton gun, but I have expected that they'd deny me the money. No problem though - took about three weeks.

I bought a M&P .45 back in January. I got both the cash ($50, I think) and the mags. The cash came in a couple of weeks. The mags took two or three months, but I got 'em.

Bought SWMP9 in April got the $50 cash and two mags within two months. Bought a SW1911 in April as well, and got the $100 cash in two months. Satisfied customer here.

I think...

There is more to the story than what we're told. Like, the fine print that someone maybe didn't read, or realize existed.:scrutiny:

I, too, had bought a Sigma 9mm back in May and it took 6 months and several phone calls to finally recieve my mags. They keep telling me 7-10 days then it was a couple of weeks and then finally one service person said that they was getting them in everyday and was sending them out as fast but he couldn't give a timeline as to when I would receive mine. I was number 8,000+ out of 16,000+ at the time of my last call. I received them about 7 days later. I would just keep after them until you get the mags. If you check the price of these mags they are running about $30 apiece.

The great value of the internet is that a disgruntled guy can give his side of the story only.

Otherwise, no one will sympathize.
