After the ban goes away can I convert a Saiga to folding stock and pistol grip? I can't see why not?

Nope! Import law, you'd have to change parts, I can't remember specifics but I believe it's been discussed in this forum.

Short answer no, long answer yes with a lot of work.

Dang it, I thought the old import law dealt with rifles. Oh well. Conversion kit anyone?

You can do it. In order to stay legal, you must make sure there are no more than 10 imported parts in the rifle -- in this context, 'parts' has a specific legal meaning per 922(r).

You can do it, you just need to pay attention.

Searching will reveal more pertinent info.

Big question here... what if one owns/has access to a CNC machine (or is just reeeeeeaally good with a Dremel :D ), thus making their own parts for such a conversion? Would that be considered clean?
