SAR-3/barrel swap

Hello Im new here=)
I had a question concerning my sar-3 (.223 ak variant)
If I wanted to convert it to 7.62 will I just need to swap the barrel and magazines?
The .223 magazines are always more expensive so I would like to convert it

No. Off the top of my head things that would have to be changed include: barrel, bolt, ejector (welded to receiver), bullet guide (riveted to receiver), and maybe a receiver (mag well may be too large to secure 7.62 magazines).

Easier & cheaper to modify a Saiga .308 to how an AK is supposed to look, and there are now 25 round mags for the .308... atlanticfirearms should have them soon

Why not just spend the money and get an AK in 7.62?

You can always sell your SAR3 maybe there's someone out there that really wants one. Honestly its not worth the aggravation, time and cost to swap out the barrel, just sell it and buy an AK that you really want.

A SAR-3 in good condition should easily sell for the retail price of a new WASR-10.

Changing the barrel (and all the other associated parts) is not a cost-effective option at all.

i THINK he means 7.62x39 not X51. so he can get a Saiga, and convert it to take regular AK mags

Yeah I'll just pick up another one and keep the one I have now.
And I did mean 7.62x39
I'll see what I can dig up at the gun show this weekend
