Picked these up this morning. I have not cleaned them up yet. I paid $350 for the 696-1 and $325 for the 15-4. I am dying to shoot the 44Spl!! I need some nice wood grips for the 696-1!

Very nice Treebeard. I like the rubber grips myself.:)

I think when you shoot it you will appreciate them. Sell it to me if you don't like it.
Seriously.:)

treebeard,

Those look great. I like the 15, but didn't know the 2" models came with a square butt. Is there a round butt under those grips?

What is this, you're buying a Smith a day now? Come on, leave a few for us. You've probably lost interest in that 28-3 with your new toys and need to sell it to me since it doesn't work right anyhow. And I think you stole the 696, I never see them that cheap. Enjoy your new guns and let us know how they shoot.

Hell of a deal on that 696-1. I would by one in a heart beat anywhere near that price.

Let us know how they shoot.

Steve

I thought the 15-4 was kind of weird when I saw how big the wooden grip was, but after holding it and dry-firing it I really liked it. Both revolvers are tight and there is very little play in the cylinder. I already bought a set of Lee 44Spl. dies, 200 empty brass, some bullets and some factory ammo just to see how it shoots. I bought some Speer and when I opened the box and pulled out a bullet I was like...:what: :what: I would hate to get hit with one of those GDHP's!!! I dropped of the 28-3 this afternoon and it should be on it's way to S&W later.

Is there a round butt under those grips?

Square for sure.

Hopefully I will be able to get to the range Thursday or Friday since it is not so cold here now. Today it got to 41 and it was like a heat wave.
