So with the whole panic buying and lack of inventory as a result I bought 2 SCCY CPX1 9mm's to day. I checked it out and i looked really decent for the money. As a matter of fact I was impressed with the quality machine work and general features, good chamber support, ambedextrious safety, recycling firing pin, double action trigger which is also very smooth, and clean fitting parts. The only concern I have is the barrel and the chamber seem a bit thin compared to other 9mm's I have. And since I reload and shoot full tilt HS6 and Longshot jacketed loads, I'm wanting to know if anyone here has checked these pistols out and what your evaluation is.

My Local Gunshop has been selling out of them long before everything went south,Great Firearm the first series had a few bugs but the Series 2 seems to have got it Rollin .He is selling them for $279 at sale price ,I'm either going with the Bersa or the SCCY series 2 ..I believe the SCCY has 2 mags that come in the Purchase the one reason I'm leaning toward the Bersa is I like the Barrel connected to the frame..Both these firarms are well worth the money the .The CPX 2 has a Life time warranty as well,I just might Buy the Bersa in the 380 and The CPX 2 for the 9mmhttp://www.sccy.com/

I bought a CPX-1 awhile back and picked it up last night. Its currently for sale here on THR....it looks nice but doesn't fit my hand well (and I want a Boberg).

Lots of Internet buzz says jump on a CPX-2. That's just the scuttlebutt, not my personal experience. I have handled both models but fired neither.

it makes for a great second gun. I'll keep my nice stuff in the safe and leave this one by the bed. if, god forbid, I'd ever have to shoot an intruder....better a $300 gun is tied up in the investigation.

Well, I ran 90 gr., 115gr., 124 gr., and 147 gr. JHP Nosler, XTP's, and Gold Dots with Longshot and HS6 near max handloads through both of them, and they were extremely accurate and cycled 100%. So in short they eat everything with out any hicups what so ever. I think I'll go buy a few more of these little jewels for a rainy day, and it's seems to be getting pretty cloudy out there.

After seeing them on AIM and doing some research, I got a type 2-Gen 2. Was looking for a small double stack, double action only 9 on the cheap to fill the gap between pocket guns and full size autos. Seemed substantially nicer and more comfortable than the KelTec. I can only seem to hit minute of torso for some reason (still not familiar enough with the short radius + DAO presumably). After about 300 rounds ranging from Blazer and S&B ball to Gold Dots, but I had one FTF on the first mag and it's been flawless since.

With a very little bit of work on the follower, you can upsize the mags to 11 rounds easily (possibly 12 but it may compromise the follower enough that it tilts) - if legal in your jurisdiction. Oddly my only malfunction was before I did this. Mags are effectively impossible to find (even before panic) so you'll probably have to order spares direct from SCCY. BHP mags seem to have the correct angle, fit the well and look like they may lock and function with a new release slot cut. I haven't gotten around to dremeling one of my cheap 15/17s to confirm.

It's certainly legal in our state to upgrade the mag to hold more. That was one of the first things I noticed about the mags, is that they look like they could be modified to hold an extra one, maybe two rounds.

My Springfield XD-9 mags will fit into my dads SCCY CPX-2, I am positive if I cut a slot in the side of the XD mag for it to latch in the SCCY it would function. But my 10 round XD mags are longer than his 10 round mags so there really isn't a need unless you wanted a 15 round mag and had a grip extension to slide over the XD mag.

I've had a CRX-1 9mm (Gen. 2) for a while and it appears to be a fairly well made little 9mm. Not sure what its called but the little ridge just below and outlining the safety stuck out so far that it "dug into" my "webbing of thumb/hand" and made it very uncomfortable to shoot many rounds at once. I ended up trimming/sanding the strip down to flush and it made a world of difference regarding comfort while shooting.

I've only put a few hundred rounds through it (it's purpose is as a "truck" pistol) and it has functioned flawlessly to this point, but I've only used 115 and 124 gr. FMJ and a few 124 gr. HP's through it. My best groups have been 2"s at 10 yards and I really haven't shot farther since that's not really its function. So far for the money it seems to be a pretty solid little 9mm. I contacted SCCY two weeks back; they won't sell magazines directly. They referred me to their dealer network to order. The part number is 01006 and MSRP is $26.95. SCCY says they have plenty in stock to fulfill dealer orders. I haven't placed my order yet only because I've got the pistol for sale at the moment; if it doesn't sell, I'll order them (I bought a pair of other pistols after ordering the CPX-1).

I owned the SCCY CPX 2 and it was a rather crappy firearm.
Trigger pull is like 700lbs and my front sight popped off on my first trip to the range.
I did have the (Gen 2) model with no safety and it sucked! I lost a ton when I traded it in.
I went into the store looking for a Bersa Thunder with 15 round capacity but I let the guy talk me into the crappy SCCY!

Oh yeah, they were only recently cleared for +p rounds but use them VERY sparingly because the rep said they beat the hell out of the gun.

I think it's hard to shake their early rap for having company employees (owners ?) go out to all the forums and post made-up testimonials about how fantastic the guns were.

So when I hear that scuttlebutt Internet buzz says jump on a CPX-2 I can't help but wonder who is creating that buzz?

My cousin has had a CPX-1 for a long while now. Great little gun, accurate and reliable. The only problem with it was that his thumb would engage the safety under recoil. SCCY was offering a safety lock-out kit and he installed it. The gun has been great and 100% ever since. SCCY has completely eliminated the safety on the CPX-2, and I AM going to go get one for myself. Inexpensive, reliable, good lookin, great warranty....100% American made... what more can one ask for?

More than you know! Rumor is that the guy who owns Kel Tec got a divorce.
The guy lost his part of the business so he and a few of his coworkers went off and started SCCY. That is why the guns are so much alike with the Kel Tec pistols.

Just a rumor but it sounds right.

When I hear anything positive about these pistols now - I have to wonder.

I have heard that the company stopped doing that,,, but like I said before - it's really hard to shake something like that.

His name isn't Grendal; it's Kelgren.

Grendel (note spelling) was the name of one of his earlier firearms ventures. Both companies take parts of their names from parts of his.

Back on thread-topic: I, too, like the looks of the CPX-2, but I already own the KT PF9, so I would not have much use for it. Handsome piece, for the price point, though.

I do not own a SCCY, never worked for them or even heard of them until my dad was looking at one. I own a Springfield XD-9 service model and I have found my dads SCCY CPX-2 to be an accurate comfortable little pistol to shoot. I haven't fired hundreds upon hundreds of rounds through it like I have my XD but I didn't see any problems with the CPX 2.

AGAIN I DO NOT WORK FOR SCCY, I work in a power plant for a State University.

I got a SCCY CPX2 because it was recommended by LGS. Have had it about three/four months now. Because I believe don't carry a firearm unless you a very comfortable with it I have put about 600 rounds through it. No fte and only 1 ftf (was ammo - hard strike right in middle of Winchester, looks like primer issue). Were a couple of minor finish issues, but had the same with my Glock and my M&P. Will take any ammo and less recoil than I expected.
The owner did not come from Keltec, and there was one manager who was hitting the reviews, but they fired him.
Had a Keltec PF9 - couldn't get it to be consistent in anything. the cpx is much more consistent. I think it is a good gun for $250. But, as has been said here many times, you need to use what feels comfortable to you. The double stack configuration really makes it feel secure in my grip. Not everyone will like that and hard reaching the trigger if you have small hands.
