Well, I finally did it. I'm upgrading my bushnell sportsman 4x32 to a Bushnell 3200 elite 4-12x40. Adjustable AO, multi-x reticle. Should be enough to let me reach out and ma bell a deer with a .308 right?? grin.

As long as you don't have it set on 12x when the deer walks by 12 feet from you.

BTDT with a 6x, and all I could see was hair.

I've been on the low power variable for hunting rifles ever since.

A wide field of view comes in handy way more often then being able to count the ticks on his swinging male parts.

RC, honestly it's more for bench work. My longest shot I'm able to see is about 100, and in my county it's shotgun or BP only. My BP wears a 1.75-4x.

i got the same scope . i do bench with my 30-06. the rainguard works super.wish i had funds to get a couple more at cabellas.:(

Nice choice... I have a Bushnell Elite 5-15x40 that is used for target shooting, and I've been really happy with it for a couple of years now. It's bright, and the clicks are repeatable.

My model has been discontinued, it was an Elite 3200, I believe. It lives on in the Bushnell line as the Elite Tactical 5-15x40, but I like simple reticles. Mil-Dot is not for me.

The ability to set the parallax as close as 10 yards is a bonus for me, as it migrates to a tricked-out 10/22 from time to time.

I have the same scope on my 30-06 and it is really decent. I use it for 100yd bench shooting also.

I never hunted with it though. I seemed like overkill, no pun intended.
