Scout Rifle madness...

Artech is the man--remaking our environment to suit us is the hallmark of homo sapiens.

For the naysayers, it is important to remember that others people's rifles do not belong to you. And you should be especially happy to see these kinds of things being done if you are hung up on market value, since it will do nothing but help you along towards your goal of owning the pristine-est of the pristine.

It is cool. Sometimes it seems sacreligous to modify an old milsurp but in this case it is definitely an improvement. Looks like it worked out very well.

Looking back on it, I probably should have mentioned that the base rifle was already bubba'd when I got it, but what the heck. It does make for some interesting conversation, and the world would be pretty boring if we all thought the same!

The load development testing continues, with the best Hornady 160 gr SP load running 1-1/4" groups at 100 yards from a rest. I'm reasonably sure that the stock, which does have some flex in the hinge joint, is the reason I can't get smaller groupings. Well, it still shoots better than I can shoot offhand, so I gess I'll call it a win.

I just may take it to deer camp this fall just to see the reactions! One thing for sure, the deer won't care one way or the other. That 6.5 punches deeeeep holes!

I like it!

Cosmoline, what kind of mount is that on the Finn? Millett? And where'd you get the thing around the buttstock?

I'd look good if you hadn't painted the action, magazine, scope, trigger, and such. Painted stocks look alright, though I prefer solid black, but when you paint the action, it ruins it.

I'd like to have that rifle, though.

artech & brianc

I like what you both have done , some may cringe , but i say it's your rifle , you bought it , make it your own :)
and what else is nice is being at the range with something that you know nobody else is gonna show up with... individualality... nice job !
