Completely a matter of taste (and endless fun debate)
What is your ONE pick for a sidearm if you were (theoretically of course) a deep cover operative? All agents welcome, from Tuxedo wearing, Stoli sipping Bond, to Beer swilling Sam Axe in a dirty Hawaiian shirt!

Suppressed Nighthawk 1911....because I wouldn't want to go through all that training and be stuck with a .32 ACP :neener:
 
Depends on where I am working.
Something locally common and unremarkable.
Serviceable and reliable, of course.
As Matt Helm said, you are more likely to have to get rid of a gun quickly than to shoot somebody with it.
 
Agreed on carrying like a local. A suppressed 9mm would be preferable. Secret agents cant be too choosey (45s would only blend in stateside). A Glock, Beretta, or SIG would probably work for most of the world though.

But personally, I'd rather go with a 1911 officer finished in royal blue :cool:
 
Local and subdued? Nonsense. Just because you are a deep cover agent whose very life depends on not sticking out doesn't mean you can't have a sense of style. Look at James Bond, carrying a Walther PPK in places where it would surely be noticed immediately as a foreign agent weapon. Therefore I would take my FNP-45 Tactical in Flat Dark Earth with threaded barrel. That way, I can suppress it, have a large capacity with a powerful firearm, and irk anyone watching as I pull it out of concealment beneath a flimsy shirt that clearly couldn't have concealed it in the first place.
 
The most common gun available in the area of operations ("sanitized" with no ties to your country of origin).

Most areas the common gun in black market circulation is the current issue military or police sidearm, which are also guns that show up commonly in international arms smuggling. (UK has a lot of East European military sidearms showing up, for instance).

ASIDE: Walther PPK has actually been a common export since 1931.

But,
He needs all of his other cool toys to get out of trouble. Unless you have the unlimited resources, your better off not attracting attention.
 
BHPs were so ubiquitous that they could be had nearly anywhere in the world along with ammunition for them.
 
By the time James Bond draws his weapon, he's already been compromised, and you're already dead!
