Sig 220ST or HK USP .45?

Im torn, but leaning towards the 220st. I like the extra heft of the 220st, and I am admittidly a Sig man (I already own a 239, 228 and 226) But I also really like the fullsize USP. Ergo's are great on both guns for me, and I know accuracy and reliability are there as well.

Why do those whacky Germans have to make such good firearms?! It makes for a difficult choice!

Anyone want to be the tie breaker here?

The ST is too heavy for me to use as a carry piece, and winds up relegated to the role of a nightstand gun. I'd get the Sig, but in P220R form.

HK. There customer service has improved while Sigs has declined. They also have lifetime warrantees.

My first post here. I have both the Sig220ST and the USP Fullsize in .45ACP. The Sig is heavier and yet recoil seems more sharp in the Sig. The HK holds 12 rounds compared to up to 8 in the Sig. The HK trigger reach seems longer, but not to long for me. Trigger might be better on the Sig as the HK seems to stack more on the DA pull, but is no problem at speed. Overall both are good pistols. Being a Sig Man you will like the 220, but if you are a little bored with them then try the HK. I don't think you'll be sorry.

I'm a Sig man myself. As for customer service, I wouldn't know - never had any issues with my Sigs.

That said, if I were you, I'd get the H&K. I know, I know... but you already have 3 Sigs. Why not try the "other" German pistol?

I plan to get more Sigs in the future, but I'll more than likely end up with a few H&K's along the way.

After making this post, I went shopping and actually picked up a *New* (Factory Pre-Owned) Sig 220 ST.. I just couldnt pass it up at the price they were asking. I got a really good deal on it, and I dont think I will be dissapointed. If I would have found a similar deal on an HK, then I would have gone that route, but I just didnt come across anything that was in as good of condition for the same price in the HK.

Next time... I really do want a HK USP V1, so I guess I will put it on the shopping list for next year!

the best pistol i ever shot was a P220..so thats my choice..ive shot the hk not sure if it was 40sw or 45 but i remember i wasnt every impressed..esp when i went to a gun store and the guy was all about the hk..then when i finally shot one..meh

isn't that like trying to choose between a Mercedes and a BMW? Both awesome weapons. I like the Sig better but you probably couldn't go wrong with either one.

I own both a 220ST and USP compact, but not the fullsize USP. Both are great guns. At 25 yards from a benchrest I can't really see a clear winner as far as accuracy with various loads. The 220ST is doing duty as my bedside gun and the HK travels more due to the lighter weight. The 220ST has less recoil, again do to the increased weight. This week the HK is my favorite, but that may very well be different next week
