I'm looking seriously at a Sig 226 9mm, and I'm interested in shooting IPSC/USPSA with it. I see that there is a factory 20 rnd mag, and I'm wondering if it's length is less than the 140 mm for "Limited" division. Does anyone out there have this info ?? Thanx in advance........

The gun should be fine in Production, but you will be handicapped in Limited. If you aren't dead set on the gun and the division, you might want to re-think your choice.

Thanx TaxPhd....I''m sure you're right about the division choices ! But what I was really asking was if the 20 rnd mag would be legal in "Limited" given the 140mm length limit. Thanx......

Can't find the specs on Sig's website. But it sure appears to be longer than the 140mm limit. I would shoot it in Production with the stock mags. Minor power factor in Limited would be to much of a handicap for me.

Scaling off the picture on the Sigarms site vs my regular magazines, I estimate the 20 round magazine to be longer than 140mm. You could call them up to be sure.

You can only use the 20 rounders for Open. You'll get 20+1 capacity and will save a reload on some long courses of fire. You won't have 27+1, a dot, or a comp, but you'll have spent about $2,000 less on your Open gun!

Thanx Rich for the reply....I've had a heck of a time getting any info on the 20 rnd Sig mag, and your input is most appreciated. I usually shoot my HK USP 9mm w/ 18 rnd mags in Limited, and I was hoping that Sig had been able to add 2 more rnds to their mag and still keep it under 140mm. Guess not. I know these aren't the "recommended" guns for Limited, minor and all, but I just LIKE the DA/SA high cap guns. I'm in it for 80% fun, 20% competition !!

Even if legal for Limited the 9mm is at a disadvantage in Limited from the get-go because it's scored as Minor. Meaning unless you shoot all A's anything other than A's will hurt you pretty badly. Limited requires .40cal or larger plus a power factor of 165 for Major.
