I grabbed a couple pounds of longshot to run these 165gr gold dot pulls I picked up. I did a good bit of looking for data. On forums and from hodgons site. I seen a lot of mention of 9gr getting 1330-1350fps. That’s fine with me.
i loaded 9 and 9.5gr after seeing hodgons data.
I also found a pulldown list of factory ammo and powders.
underwood runs 10-8gr with the same bullet for 1400fps.
the 9gr charge got me 1250ish fps and the 9.5gr got me 1300ish. The 9.5gr shot well compared to the 9.
im gonna load up 10 and 10.5gr and take them out tomorrow and see how they shoot and what I get for speed. My guns a 5” being it’s the xten. I just don’t understand why it was so much slower. I understand the whole differ gun/chamber thing. But I seen multiple mentions of. And it was a 4.6” barrel on a few also.
I also threw a couple charges with my 180gr hst bullets. They ran 1215ish fps. My regular load gets me 1270ish fps
anyhow. Guess I’ll see how they do tomorrow. I’ll post follow up info.

I've loaded the 165 grain Gold Dot over 10 grains of Longshot and it shot very well in both of my Springfield XDms. From what little I've read, it sounds like the Xten has good chamber support, so I'd expect your 10 grain load to work just fine. 10.5 grains may be getting a little on the hot side, but hard to say.

I did did not look at the lot numbers of powder. I’ve only opened the one can so far I did shoot the 10 and 10.5 grain. The 10 grain gave me about 1375 ft./s and the 10.5 give me 1430 ft./s. but the groups were a lot bigger. They were both probably 2 to 2 1/2 inches at 20 yards so I just settled on the 9.5. I’m pretty sure that will do for what I need done. Also the 10.5 green load the primers were pretty flat onto it so I don’t know that I’d want to try to run that now compared to the middle of summer when it’s 120° out.
