Sighting in my AR and ran into some trouble (iron sights)

I'm using a matech and an el cheapo utg font flip us gas block mounted.

I have to bottom out the front sight and raise the matech all the way up to 600 meters to sight it in at 25 meters/standard military sighting process.

What gives and how can I solve it?

I have a scope, sightron, but wanted to have these on for backups...

I know there are F marked higher front posts but this post has no marking... what gives?

It uses the 4 pronged side of the wrench.

I had the opposite issue with my DPMS Sportical. The front sight base is the gas block and it isn't on the same plane as the flattop. The shop I bought mine from put the wrong sight on. So sounds like you need a single plane sight, and I need a dual plane sight....

Looks like your issue your two sights aren't "matched" for each other.

Therein lay my problem.

I have the bull barrel DPMS and the gas block is not on the same plane as the flattop but MaTech doesn't make a front sight and says that any "a2 style sight" will work.

If I am correct that would be the higher revision "F" style sight but this sight is too high and it does not have any marking on it.

So, what gives? Any suggestions for fixing the issue?

Wingnut13's right, the sights aren't matched. Does the UTG say it's for a gas block mount? (And we're talking about a railed gas block?) Odd that it's too tall (almost sounds like it's for an AR-10), you expect the gas block sight to be taller than one mounted on an extended rail. Maybe it's meant for a low profile gas block? Unfortunately this may just be a case of you get what you paid for.

If this helps any, the tip of my sight post is about 1.75" above my railed gas block.

The sight was intended for an AR15. It is a gasblock mounted sight. It didn't say anything about a low-pro gasblock.

yeah it's railed. I guess I just need to try a different front sight.

What I am looking for are recommendations. I have a dpms lo-pro bull barrel upper... gas block mounted front sight is the only choice because of optics. sightron big sky is mounted on there...

Anyone have any experience matching up with the MaTech rear?

Alright, I have the solution. For anyone who experiences this issue all you have to do is grind down the SIGHT POST until it is the right height to make the correct adjustments.
