Big question for all you P229/40 users out there..
...
Thanks to 1Blindref lending me his SIG DVD, I swapped out my heavy, very rough-stacking trigger pull main spring from the factory 24lb main spring to a Wolff 18lb main spring.. Shot 150 rounds of 180gr Winchester wb and no light strikes, along with 20 rounds of 180gr JHP's.. gun was perfect at 100%
I now have main spring rings permanently marked on my support hand fingers, along with they're still very cold feeling..
lol But..
Comparing it to my older P229, yet newer model (short main spring) trigger, they're close, but the older one (rounds fired wise) is a bit lighter and smoother in the DA pull (perfect in my mind) SOOOOOOO
I wondering IF any out there are using a 17lb, or 16lb (old style long spring) main spring in their P229 40's without any light strikes, proving reliable with ongoing performance..??
I think 1lb or 2lbs less would make the newer, yet older long main spring model' trigger-pull feel and a bit less stacking toward the end of the pull, all but not going with a little less.
Appreciate any ongoing experiences with lighter than 18lb main springs, old style-long springs, out there.. good or bad.
Just curious
