Illinois does not have any provisions for CCW. With that said, you can legally carry an unloaded handgun in a case designed to transport firearms on your person. This means get one of those gun fanny packs and have a loaded magazine next to the gun. They say it takes about 2 seconds to get the gun ready for action.

Just didn't know how serious to take this as he is always makign threats he doesn't back up.

he has attacked numerous family members, including my wife when she was 15, over a paper plate. He left my MIL on the highway in Mississippi and drove home to IL because he felt she disrespected him. He is a big bully, 6'5" 260lbs, and 54 years old. He cut his girlfriend up last year on the thighs and she didn't press charges(no idea shy the county didin't).

In your first post, you clearly state that he has attacked family members already. Maybe he didn't promise to attack them first, but he has shown that he is capable of physical violence. I'd get to the police YESTERDAY.

Sorry to hijack, but this thread reminded me of a story my grandmother used to tell me. One of her friends had a husband who was an angry drunk. He'd come home blacked out, hit her, hit the kids and go to bed. She was a very strong woman, so after he had done this 2 or 3 times, he came home drunk against and she hit him on the head with a cast iron frying pan. This knocked him out cold, and he woke up with such a bad headache (he didn't remember getting hit) that he never went drinking again.

Suggestions

1. Move Away & Don't Visit
2. Restraining Order
3. Involve the Police -- Document Numerous Domestic Violence incidents;
4. See what's required to get an Involuntary Mental Health Institution Commitment;
5. If no other choice, Double Tap ... maybe Triple Tap at 6'5" 250 lbs.

#1 I am not a troll looking for attention!
#2 Who the hell are you to judge me? You have 9 posts!

This really happened last Monday night. The whole family (except my wife and 2 BIL and SIL) is pissed because I have contacted the police about the matter

Maybe FourFive is suffering from Projection ("A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits.") :neener:

Zaire: I'm not surprised that a good chunk of your family is upset with you over this matter. They've lived with the Uncle and his issues for years, so may be habituated to it. Stay the course, for the safety of you and your immediate family if nothing else.

Zaire, I'm not judging you, it's just that your story sounded a little far fetched. First off, you should go to the police and file a complaint against this man, instead of discussing here.

I apologize, if I offended you.

Sindawe! What the heck are you talking about?
