People asked for years for a CZ P01 with a standard safety. Now they get both worlds. Introducing the CZ P02. http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz/PC/CZ_75_P-02.aspx Using the new Omega trigger system and the user changeable decocker/standard safety from the P07, this looks to be a hot new SD/duty pistol. Who says manufacturers don't listen? Sometimes it just takes a while!
No import data yet, sorry.

Ok that is Inclusive.

I am a huge CZ fan, love my P01, but slapping the actual plastic part from the P07 and putting it on a P01 is .... Inclusive.

That is the only word for it.

100% terrible.

BOO CZ, shortcuts like that are for companies far worse than you.

It should have a CZ 75 style metal safety, not a plastic P07 one. Obviously.

If this is the direction CZ is headed with their firearms, I will be buying Pre-2010 CZs exclusivly. Omega triggered part swapping nonsense. I say boo.

I kind of like it, and understand that they probably saveed a lot of money and engineering time, bringing us the pistol faster and with less expense, by using the system off the P-07. More power to 'em.

How much engineering time does it take to take a metal part from guns you already make, that work with the omega trigger already, and put them on a gun that uses similar parts?

Just saying, an all metal gun with 1 plastic part that is obviously from another gun in their lineup, is something I would expect out of EAA or some cheezy importer.

While I agree with you and am not defending the other poster's original terminology, I've recently been informed by somebody half my age that the word in question no longer refers to either happiness or sexual orientation but simply means "stupid." You know, like how bad is good and cool is hot. Radical, dude. Gnarly, man.

Manco I am constantly fighting a (losing) battle to stop using it that way. It's tough after ten years plus, really is.

Maybe the plastic one feels better to the CZ engineers?

Yeah, I hate when that happens, too. I shouldn't have said anything. Please accept my apology.

As for the safety/decocker being plastic on an otherwise all-metal gun, I have to admit that I'm torn over whether to approve or disapprove. Part of me doesn't care what materials are used as long as they have the right physical properties, another part of me thinks that repurposing parts is efficient engineering, and yet another part of me thinks that taking shortcuts like this makes a design seem kind of cheap and inconsistent. In the end, my practical side almost always wins out (which is why I came to embrace polymer pistols despite disliking them at first), but having just one small plastic part makes it stick out like a sore thumb at the same time. Maybe this time I'll go all idealistic and suggest that people who are interested in the P02 and do not like having a lone plastic bit should write in to complain, as it couldn't be that hard for CZ to make a metal part (like they do for the rest of the P02 and P01).

Well, making a new one for the p-02 is kinda like re-inventing the wheel. The part obviously works on the other gun, so why do more especially with the chance the new one could have problems with it?

The main advantage is the ease of decocking lever or manual safety interchange in the same manner as applied for the CZ 75 P-07 DUTY model.
Emphasis added.
There is nothing there to say the part is the exact same one from the P07, it could be that it merely it looks a lot like it. It may be, there is a very little information. I am hoping it is a metal part, not plastic, but we will see, as what we have here is all the info available, sorry. I think it will be a very interesting addition to the CZ lineup. Of course, with the huge new contract for Phantoms, Skorpion Evos, and CZ 805s, I can just hope they have some manufacturing capability left to make some for the US market!

Edit to add, I will try to find out for y'all.

Never owned a cz. May have to look into getting this one as it looks great.

Ah, hell. Not having a safety was about the only thing keeping me from loving the P01. Now if Top Gun can work their magic on pricing when the P02 comes out...

YEA and AMEN!

I have been asking for this for years - the PROBLEM with the P01 was the trigger AND the poor decocker. I had three P01s (long story) and ended up with a compact. The OMEGA triggers I have seen are VERY good, and will turn a P01 into one of the best autos available.

The SA trigger will be 100% better. Now, C/L is available with DA/SA option. Even the decocker is better on an Omega - better position, easier function.

And.. the P01 ergos are perfect.

Finally.

Now I have to find an excuse to buy one, and wait for CZ-USA to get them...

Recieved this early morning.
Dear Sir,
The raw material for P-02 pistol frame is a light alloy;
The safety/decocker levers are the same polymer, used on the P-07, because P-02 and P-07 models have the same "OMEGA" trigger mechanism.

awesome. the decocker is what's kept me from buying the P-01 in the past. my hands are too small for a comfy reach to the DA trigger.

now that i can carry it cocked and locked, i'll be taking a second look at this fine sidearm. :)

Decockers are such that... you either 'love 'em of hate 'em'... I'm in the 'love 'em' camp, for me, DECOCKERS are the way to go... but that's me!
These modifications to the P-01 will provide the best of all worlds (omega-trigger and safety) for those who wanted something alittle different.
The P-01 is one of CZs best guns... and now, it should be considered by all.
Any indication on price... ie. how much more?

Good points FMJ... now if you can convince CZ to follow your reasoning we'll be set!!

Of course they are putting out a P-02 with a thumb safety. I just bought a P-01! :banghead:

I must say though, I really like the P-01.

ETA: I wonder how long it will take for someone to put out an aftermarket safety.

CZ P07 did just win a big LE contract, Phillipene National Police, 118,000 officers.
I don't plan on dropping my P01 for a P02, but it is a very good idea to put the '01 and '07 together.
