SP2022 vs Glock 17

I'm looking for a handgun that will be mostly open carried and also in a shoulder holster, which one would be a better gun?

depends on what you are used to. Glock Family, SIG or other.
I have experience carrying both and i personly would pick the GLock. Even though the Sig fits me better i just like the glock.

I don't have alot of experiance with either, more with the 22 family but never shot the SP2022. I have fired only a few rounds out of a 19 but that was awhile ago. I guess i'll have to compare how they feel in my hand.

both are kinda big, both are very dependable, both are very accurate... And yes ive owned both.

The sig gets my vote for looks and comfort

the Glock gets my vote for Holster options, sight options, trigger options, magazine's.. just about everything else.

can't go wrong either way, I prefer shooting the sig 2022 over the Glock 17 but the 17 may be more practical to own.

Out of those two, the Glock no questions asked. But then again, you're comparing one of the best Glocks vs a low end SIG

Change the SP2022 to a P226, P229, or P228 (even better if you get an older West German model!) and I'd have to go with SIG's offering

This of course is for open carry/shoulder holster. Weight won't matter quite as much, and I'd rather go with a bigger/heavier gun in that case, especially if you are giving nothing up in terms of reliability/accuracy (probably gaining accuracy if you are good enough). For say IWB concealed carry or such, I'd probably go with a Glock 19 or 26 instead of the heavier SIG

As much as I love SIG, I don't like their polymer guns, so I couldn't recommend one of them over something like a Glock

if i had the money I'd buy a P228 or a P226 no questions asked, but its gonna be around $500 so i'm thinking i'll get a Glock.

Uh man, that's hard. The most under rated poly pistol and most tested (Glock).

At this point I will recommend you to go with Sig Pro. Not because I think either one is better. But Sig Pro is drying up fast. The likely hood of you finding a Sig Pro in the future is slim, so grab one now. Glock will be here to stay.

I own more than a few glocks and a single 2022. I'm more used to, or comfortable with the glocks b/c I've owned longer, shot them more, etc. By design and function I think the 2022 is better. I've only taken mine out shooting once so far. Its nice to have da/sa, you are always shooting on sa unless you decock it, and sa trigger pull is very nice.
