Suppressed 1911 for Home Defense?

 I would not touch off a .300BLK pistol inside my house. No way. Not a chance. Uh Uh. Not gonna happen. :)
The OP referred to suppressed 300BLK pistols.

A suppressed 300BLK SBR or pistol will yield sound pressure levels in the 140-146 dB range "at the ear" shoot full power 110's (for example; other grain full power ammo should be almost identical), depending on ammo and specific firearm.

For 300 BLK subs, it's more like the 133-136 dB range depending on ammo, barrel length, gun type, etc. This is for semi-autos only. (Bolt guns are outside the scope of this thread and are way quieter.)

A suppressed Glock 9mm shooting full power subsonic ammo (ie, 147's) through the top rated 9 cans will be 141-142. Through the "K" length cans, this range expands to about 138-142 dB. These again are "shooter's ear" numbers, and these are the peak dB, not an "energy integral."

So these two systems, full power 300 BLK and 9mm, the peak dB at shooter's ear is nearly identical, or at least in overlapping ranges depending on specific host gun and ammo.

Full power 45 ACP has shooter's ear numbers almost identical to the 9 numbers I quoted above. Data collected on B&K PULSE (LAN-XI).
