Sure fire question

The Brinkman's I saw at Walmart did not look comfy for the way I want to carry them. They had another kind of light that I did pick up, called a Garrity. Seems very similar to the Brinkmans, but I liked the shape. Any experience with these lights? It is shorter, but fatter, than my mini maglight. It is a lot brighter. My first LED light so I have nothing to compare it to.

So What about Garrity lights?

Malice, the Garrity would be suitable for general use where mild illumination is needed, but it is nowhere near bright enough for "tactical use. Keep that in mind.

Will have to try the Brinkman. Always looking for another good flashlight. Thanks for the info!

My EDC is the E2. I got one that had been returned and was 'scratch and dent'. Truly, I cannot tell the difference. I even got the box. Only paid about $35 for it. A friend of mine gave me a G2 for Christmas, and it resides on the nightstand. Both are excellent lights with stunning output. I guess I have been so used to the Maglite that the kind of output Surefire gives is still earthshaking to me.

Either the G2 or the E series will be more than enough for any application that I can think of, especially IDPA. They are so small for the level of output they give and are both light an manuverable. I carry my E2 everywhere including at work in my suit pocket.

Used the Brinkman last night at our IDPA winter match...it worked like a charm.Very bright and easy to hold in weak hand, next to the gun while firing. Also used it in a stage where you lit up the bad guys for your partner..worked great....I'm getting a back up one this week......

I also have the Brinkman Maxfire LX. Very nice product in a handy size.

My son picked up one of the Garrity LED lights. He thinks it is very cool, but it does not compare to the brightness of a Xenon/Lithium light like the Maxfire or the G2.

I have had my G-2 for 3 years and am still on the original batteries. Obviously I dont use it all the time, but it has traveled with me a great deal.

As far as 'good' flashlights go, I own a Surefire G2, a C2 and a 9AN rechargeable. I have access to Streamlight Stingers and whatever Streamlight product they have in the cruisers at work. FWIW, I do not favorably compare the Streamlights to my Surefires. The Streamlights do not seem to throw as far, certainly are not as focused and break more easily. Just one man's opinion, and as always, YMMV.

Since I've got the 9AN on my duty belt, I was looking for a long-running LED light of sufficient output to be a viable tasklight for the times I do not need to make the sun come up with my 9AN. Based on a good experience I've had with their 5 LED light, I'm trying the Inova T2. According to specs, the light will put out 40 lumens for 5 hours. I consider my 65 lumen G2 to be damn bright, so I'm assuming 40 lumens will be more than enough for general locating-stuff-in-the-dark tasks. I'll append a full review here when it comes in in the next couple of days.

My wife picked up the Brinkman Maxfire from Walmart the other day.

It is NOT a 1" tube and will not fit in my barrel clamp :( It has a rubbery exterior and is more like 1.5" or so.

Maybe they changed the model style ...???

Anyway, I will probably just keep it anyway for a pocket flashlight, since I now seem to have a fetish for collecting flashlights as well as guns ;)

Now we notice that we have a whole bunch of Brinkman flashlights - several of the AA LED models that are great for just seeing your way around but not much use for searching outside. Nice thing about those is that the batteries seem to last almost forever.

Tallpine,
The rubber grip sleeve should come off, leaving you with a 1" barrel. Just don't plan on putting it back on...that sucker is tight!

Tallpine, the ring should also fit over the rubber piece, I've seen pics of them mounted that way, and they said it was a 1" ring. The rubber does come off, you could wrap some bicycle innertube around it to build it up a bit if necessary.

I am now the proud owner of a Brinkman Maxfire. I tried it out last night in the backyard. This thing is a mini spotlight! So far, I am VERY pleased.

We have a small pile of G2 Nitrolons around the house. I had the 120 lumen lamp for a while, but didn't feel the urge to replace it when it went missing. The 65 lumen lamp is plenty bright for its intended purpose, and the 20 minute run time on the brighter lamp chews through batteries like a puppy through slippers.
