SW model 10 vs SW 5306.

There really is very little that can't be done with a good Smith Model 10.
There are miles of difference between the two you mention. Are you more comfortable with a revolver or an auto? Are you looking to use either for carry, home defense, or range only? If you already have something for defensive duties, then it comes to which one looks the best to you? Can you find a gun shop that might have examples on hand you can actually pick up?
The revolver will be far easier to adjust the grips to fit, with a much lower ammo capacity and generally, (for anyone NOT Jerry Miculek), reload time. On the other hand, mine is very accurate, and a lot of fun to shoot. Ammo can be loaded from puffball to thunderbolt, as the gun doesn't require recoil energy to operate.
Best thing is J&G is an excellent place to do business, bought there more than once before, would do it again.

That's what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure it wasn't a model I didn't know about.
Anyway, to answer your question. I can't say enough good things about Smith and Wesson revolvers. Not a big fan of the Model 10 just because of the caliber. I've always figured why buy a 38 Special when you can get a 357. I do have a pre model 10 in 38 S&W though.
As far as the 5906, I haven't been very impressed with the reliability of Smith and Wesson autos. I have a 1076 that jams as soon as it gets the slightest bit dirty. Everyone else on this site seems to not have any problems, but I've seen a lot of them jam at the range.
