SxS swivel mount
Isn't this kind of rediculous? If the solder is so darned weak, how do the barrels stay together when they're fired? "Soft solder" is a relative term. It is certainly not the tin / lead solder used in electronics and plumbing, which is VERY SOFT, and can be easily melted at about 600 deg with a soldering iron. It is more likely the cadmium /brass/ silver alloy that is brazed on with a torch at temperatures up to 1600 deg. That makes a molecular bond with the steel, and creates very strong joints. Same stuff used on bicycle frames. Why wouldn't this hold up to the minimal forces of sling useage?
I've seen countless pictures of SxS field guns being carried in the field by hunters, particularly in Europe. Makes sense to me. Sometimes you have to climb or go down hills. Ford streams. Walk through mud. I don't want my sweaty hands to be continuously on the stock or the receiver. And I don't understand why Americans consider the application of a swing swivel to a stock, forearm or barrel to be a value damaging modification. The sling doesn't affect accuracy on the clay target fields either. Because the forearm is so thin on my Benelli, I've been using a wrap around tactical shotgun sling. I take a lot of ribbing from my squad, but it hasn't affected my scores any, and I'm able to hold a score card without setting my gun down in the wet grass. I'm going to find swivels I can mount permanently on my Benelli and drill and tap my new SxS for a swivel also. To heck with the book value. I bought this gun for me, not the next owner!
