The small town gun shop where I do business has several brand new, never sold Taurus PT145 Millenium series semi autos that he has marked WAY down to sell before he gets the new "Millenium Pro" series in.
I own several Taurus revos but have never had one of their auto pistols, I know that owners love 'em or hate 'em. This gun shop owner says these are very recent editions of the PT 145 and all the cracking frame problems have been worked out.
The gun feels great in my hand and carries 10 +1 .45cal ACP in a small package for around $375.00 new. Not bad, what do y'all think?

I have had a PT145 for about a year with 500 rounds through it. Mine is an earlier serial number with the original frame, no cracking so far. I only shoot 200gr loads or lighter through it, which is recommended in the manual. The gun has had no failures with silvertips, 165gr hydra shocks and 185gr golden sabres. Mine came with only 1 mag and the second mag I bought costs 30.00. For 375.00 I would make sure two mags are included.

Do a search on the topic & you'll find out why he's got them on close out! I stay away from them if I were you.

I bought a stainless one a month ago. New, I ordered from them online through their distributor. Cost me $370 (just short of $400 with taxes). This was my dealer's regular price (they only order one at a time - never until the one in the case sells). So, if you ask me, the price wasn't so great. $300 or less would be a great price. Read over the posts, both here and at www.thefiringline.com and make sure you check the serial # before you buy. Anything made before late 2001 should be viewed as a potential problem and avoided all together (the posts will tell you how to decode serial numbers - basically first 3 digits are letters first digit is model specific, middle digit is year, third digit is month). There's also still a bunch in the pipeline. Taurus will honor the warranty if you have a problem, but best to avoid warranty work if possible (you loose use for about a month - month 1/2 each time you send it back).

Still haven't had a chance to shoot mine, but soon.

Gun shop commandos are like used car salesmen, they'd lie to their granny. That SOB told me $375.00 was rock botton, his cost, can't possibly go any lower. All BS. I can't wait to tell him where to put his PT145 unless he can get closer to $300.00 then I might think about it.
Thanks guys, John

Chief,
I beta tested this gun!! I bought one of the first ones to hit the market. I put exactly 600 rounds of 230gr hard ball and 50 230gr HP and noticed that the frame had cracked!! It went back to the dealer and I have never looked back!! IMHO, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!! As touching the manual recommended loading, any .45ACP that will not handle the standard SAMMI pressure and bullet weight for the cartridge, has no business being on the market!!!

Dealer cost on a stainless PT145 is currently about $315. I've seen them going at local gun shows for $340-$350 plus tax from the volume sellers.

I went back to the dealer, he was prepared to sell the PT145 for $350.00, after a really close inspection, I decided to not buy the Taurus it just felt cheap to me and it was kinda large and quite hard to hide in shorts and "T" shirt, my Glocks are too. I did, however pick up a new Kahr K40 all stainless with Trijicon nite sites, little heavier than the Taurus and carries 4 less rounds but it feels more like a real gun if you know what I mean, cost me $440.00. Which is $100.00 less than a Glock (already have 2 Glocks) but a little more than the Taurus and it conceals better than the Glocks. Hopefully it will prove to be as reliable as the Glocks, only time will tell.
Thanks for your comments, John

When I bought my new, around the time Denfoote bought his, I spent $359.00 on the SS version. It's a nice little gun and I might get another one but I don't have the funds or the need right now.

OK guys. I'm fresh from a big gunshow in Richmond. Here's what I found. One dealer is selling Millenium series (not Pro) for $314.99. And this guy takes credit cards at no extra cost, so this may not be his rock bottom. He had a bunch of PT-111s and PT-140s, as well as 2 PT-145s. All were guaranteed NIB. He may have had more in stock.

A second dealer had a stainless Millenium Pro and a recent vintage PT-145. Looks like it's just about the same gun (OK, a couple of levers were changed and there seems to be indentations for fingers forward of the trigger on the frame perpendicular to the barrel axis). Both guns were $369.

I should note that these prices were the marked prices. I've dickered with both these dealers before and have found that I can get an average of $20 off what they have on their prices (for most guns).

It may very well be that $350 is what your dealer paid for the guns, but just about everybody else seems to be getting them for less.

Shop around for a better $ , I had a early Millenium and was not very happy with the quality.
