I have had several Tarui and an XD with locks. I first make sure that the lock is completely UNLOCKED, drop in a bit of superglue and then throw away the key. Never had a problem with locks and don't worry about them either.
Personally, after three bad experiences with Taurus revolvers, I am not inclined to buy their 1911...but it is appealing. If I DID buy one, I would replace the hammer and sear with tool-steel parts and replace the trigger with a solid, Videki style. Why? Simple, and it has nothing to do with it being a Taurus (I routinelly do the same thing with Springfield, Kimber and Colt 1911s). I LIKE and TRUST tool steel lockwork. MIM is not my friend. As for the trigger, I would replace it for the simple fact that it is BUTT UGLY.
