Short story, to get you informed.
I buy a Glock Sub compact in 40 cal.
I then found a place to hunt coyote on a 400+ acres farm.
I sell Golck for a Savage 10 in .243
I call hunters education to get all set up, and I get
"sorry all classrooms are full" you have to wait until next class.
Ohh, I see here the next class is full."

I give up I'm not a big game hunter, at most I've smack a few squirrels with my Beeman from the bird feeder.

So no a buddy needs some money, I ended up with this PT911
What are you guys views on it?

BTW: I'm not "firearm" missinformed. I've been shooting them for
15 years now. I remember at some time Taurus was on the lower end of quality. So is it Ditch the Taurus, and Get the Glock, and be like all the rest of
neighbor kids......Seems like everyone wants one. So I tend to be different
Maybe a XD40, or go all out a Mil-Spec 1911 45?

Thanks for any input

i have a pt1911 and love it .give it a try shoot it and I think you will like it. they really do shoot good:D

Like Whistler said, I'd shoot it, and see if I like it. You won't lose anything more doing that that selling/trading it the way it is.

My only experience with Taurus is with their revolvers, and all of those have been good. Can't help you with the semi's.

I have the Taurus and have fired a Mil Spec. I prefer the Taurus. I haven't had it long enough to assess reliability, but so far it has shot everything I've loaded with excellent accuracy without problems.

There are a lot of Taurus haters out there, but I really, really like the PT1911. I have one, and I heartily recommend it to anyone and everyone I meet. I have about 1000 rounds run through mine thus far, and have been very pleased with it's performance.

To me the Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro is one of the very best values in the gun world. While my collection is made up of waht one would probably decribe as higher end guns, I depend on my 111 on a daily basis.

I purchased a RIA 1911 on a lark back when they were still $199 and after around 1,500 or so rounds of exceptional reliability and accuracy, I couldn't imagine parting with it. Heck, every time I pick it up I'm reminded of the excellent value it represents. The bulk of its diet consist of my 200gr SWC or RNFP handloads that often choke up my vastly more expensive Kimber and Springfield while proving every bit as accurate.

The point I'm attempting to make is that reputation isn't the epiteth of merit. If you find your Taurus 1911 accurate and reliable, then what's the reason to trade or sell it unless you're concerned about the opinions of others? If this is the case, you might want to spend less time on the net and more time working on your self-esteem (or building confidence in your Taurus). ;)

Yes, indeed I do mean the PT911.....not the 1911.
Any one have any experience with one?

One can ask the owners of PT1911s over at Taurus Talk at MSN and Taurus Armed.net. Either place can used as a source of info. Taurus Armed.net has a board just for PT1911 owners.

Do a search, ask questions, read old and new threads. There are members here that are at those two places as well.

My wife’s uncle is a police chief and the PT"911" not "1911" haha is his carry weapon. I found it interesting to know he carried that when he has the choice to carry pretty much anything he wants. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet but I sure would like to

Looks just like the one on the Taurus site too except his looked like it had black wood grips. Might have been fake wood but it looked like it had grain to it so it could have been real wood.

Thank for the info, seems like it is a pretty decent firearm to me.

I forgot to mention that he takes it out and actually shoots it every other week so it gets plenty of range time. I know some LEO's dont put many rounds through there guns but My uncle in-law sure does ;)

The PT911 to the best of my knowledge is based off the PT92. The PT92 is built on tooling that had it's origins in filling a Brazillian contract for license built Beretta 92s back when the Beretta safety/decocker was on the frame. From the perspective of a gun shop employee - who sees what gets returned and how frequently - the PT92 and the Taurus metal frame autos derived from it (including the PT911, but not the PT1911) are amongst the best Taurus products out there.

As others have said, shoot it and see how you like it.

Ah, a PT911 you say? No problem, just trade it in for a PT1911 and you'll be all set (to talk about the PT1911). :D

In all seriousness, I briefly had an earlier model (P908?) that looked somewhat like the P911, but I didn't own it long enough for it to leave much of an impression. Those were my days of selling and trading. I pretty much just buy these days.

Of my 4 Taurus products I currently own and have fired plenty (M85, M689, M44, PT99) I have had exactly 0 problems with them. Enjoy your PT1911. :p

The PT911, yes, 9*1*1

I have one of these.

It's a natural pointer.

Its a 15+1, 9mm, all metal, self-resetting double-action, exposed hammer, large-dot front sight, frame-mounted safety, "CZ P-01 sized," part Beretta, part BHP derivative pistol.

I have, unhappily, not gotten to the bloody range with it.

I have spent considerable time examining it alongside the PX4 and the CZ P-01 offerings.

I picked it because 1) it points better than the other two, 2) it's very comfortable in my hand despite the odd-looking grip, 3) the action and trigger are smooth and crisp. 4) excellent price point, 5) reviews form actual owners were all favorable.

You should understand that I did not start out to buy this, but rather the CZ.

I wish I'd gotten some range time so I could report on that. Maybe this weekend.
