Was at the Big Town Gun Show yesterday checking things out.

I discovered when handeling various revolvers, the Taurus felt the best. Better that Ruger and Smith. I have never compared before with all of them in front of me.

I loved the Tracker in various calibers, The Raging Bull, the little snubbies etc. All for much less than the Rugers and Smiths etc.

I really liked the Tracker 44 mag and the 22.:D

Oh yea held the Judge. It feels pretty good as well. wish I could afford them all.

My M66s are quite light in felt recoil and point well, not better than my M19 did, but that's pretty danged good. It's a typical K frame feel to me. Grip means a lot, of course, and I really like Hogue grips on 'em, Pachmayr Grippers ain't bad either. I picked up an AWESOME quality M66 nickel late model with newer transfer bar lockwork for $197 at a gun show. This thing is like new and shoots tight little 1" groups at 25 yards off bags with .38 wadcutter or 140 Speer JHP magnums, as good as it gets. I'm real happy with it, smooth action, not a complaint.

I've heard about varying quality control on these guns, never seen it, but heard about it. I only have three Taurus revolvers, so that's a small subset, but mine are excellent. I figure, pick the gun up, check it for gap, end shake, timing, all the check out stuff for a revolver, and how can you go wrong? Used Taurus revolvers (don't know much about the autos) are BARGAINS around here. Used Smiths, K frames in particular (the ones I like best) are out of sight. I can buy a new Ruger for what a wore out 19 goes for now days, makes me wish I'd have hung on to mine.

Anyway, I've been wanting a tracker for a long time, but I like my 4" 66 so much, I don't think I'll worry too much about it, LOL. I mean, what's a few ounces? I don't carry the gun as a CCW, but use it as an outdoor revolver. It's so accurate with wadcutters, I could squirrel hunt with the thing. The only .22 handgun I own that can match it is my Contender barrel with 2x scope. Add to that its accuracy and power with 158 grain SWCs, well, that's the versatility of a .357 four outdoor use, regardless of the brand of platform.

.45 Colt Tracker wearing Hogue grips, only a five shot on an L-frame size, but a big thumper when needed.

But its only presently available in .357, .41 magnum, .44 magnum.

I've had my 605 for a while now. It is my CCW. I got a 6" Tracker in 357 recently. Fun gun. Shot some lightly loaded 125 grain 38 spl in it, and it just goes "pop." Hardly any recoil. Full load 357's in it go "boom" but with less recoil, or felt recoil, than I expected.

What ! No Taurus bashing yet ! I have three Taurus revolvers including a .44 mag Tracker, and a little 13oz Titanium snubie . I have no complaints.

Yep. Have the older Taurus model 65,66,85CH,and a 94.
The first three are in the 20 year brackets as for age. All are tight lock up,no cylinder end shake, well timed, and still going strong.

Model 65 came in nickel and has the 2.5 in barrel.

The model 94 is in blue and has the 5 inch barrel. Slicked up the trigger pull with snap cap and dryfiring with said caps over 500 times for practice and smoothing out the trigger pull. Worked well.

5 in. barrels make a nice split the difference between the 4 and 6 in. .22lrf revolvers. Portability is good and the extra 1 in. gives a little velocity boost.

85CH has the hammer bobbed and flush with the frame. It is DAO. Takes care of "the gun was cocked before firing" and was a hair trigger situation argument used by unscrupulous lawyers for negligence lawsuits or prosecution.:D

G'day
I have a Taurus 608 with a bit over 40,000 rounds through it (I shoot IPSC / ICORE) I will be using it for the Australian ICORE nationals In September.
It has had a trigger job and a spring kit
I have just bought another 10,000 projectiles to suit it what more can I say

Mike

669 6" .357 mag, 13+ years and going strong. One of the nicest triggers I have (of "quite a few"...)

44SS4 4" .44 mag, 2+ years, no issues, tightest lockup of any DA revolver I own.

M94 4" .22, sold within a few months. Never could get it to feel clean and crisp, nor keep the sights tight. Gave up.

I didn't give up on the brand, though. Bought the .44 after the .22 had come and gone. Would consider another. Don't like their semi-autos, but that's just me.

I have had a PT99AF, I know it is a semi-, for almost 8 years and not a problem. I am not a frequent shooter, probably less than 1500 rounds in that length of time, but I can count on one hand the number of problems.

I just bought a 605B2 for CC. I put a couple of hundred rounds of both .38 and .357 through it with not a problem. Off hand I had no problems with tight groups out to 25 yards.

My oldest daughter carries a 94SS with a four inch barrel. Again, not a problem with many hundreds of .22 going through it. Her husband is a Glock fan, but it seems like when we go shooting he always ends up with one of the Taurus in his hand and his Glock sits in the pickup.

I Noticed the Taurus basher got his hate biais thread locked down. :barf::cuss:

Good, another one bites the dust. :D

Long live the Taurus, may they soon make a .44 special Tracker. :)

The basher just started his own thread, it seems.

I'm sorry, but where is he bashing?

Sounds pretty much like a factual account to me.

Are you saying that he is lying?

It was closed as a duplicate, not due to any lack of veracity or bashing...

Please keep it real, folks.

I cant bash Taurus either, have owned several, currently using a 905ss for a carry cun.

Well, in keeping it real...the thread got the padlock for some reason. (Where is the original thread posting that's not padlocked)

It was an outrageous slam dunk of disgruntled biais, stands to reason that's why it got locked down.

The poster's slant is not shared by all of us who have had some good luck with Taurus firearms and their warranty program.

The undeniable facts as far as Taurus is concerned not all are slamming the product...I certainly like mine. But guess that's really going to bother someone who don't like them.

No, it was a factual recounting of a dealer's dealings with the company. It wasn't positive for Taurus, but it was mild by comparison to the way many others carpet-bomb manufacturers who they personally dislike. The only reason it was locked is that it was a duplicate. (The original is in "General Discussion", fwiw.) The fact that the OP saw fit to post it multiple forums is a bit suspect, but on the other hand, he was a bit p.o.'ed. I would have been too, in his shoes.

No company is perfect, and they all produce lemons on occasion. If you believe Taurus is different you're kidding yourself.

And if you'll notice, I'm a Taurus supporter. But I'm not a blind supporter of anything (or one).

Does anyone check out a gun before they buy one? I've passed on Smiths, a Ruger, others that weren't up to snuff for what they were selling for. I mostly buy used stuff, can't be too careful. If the revolver is tight, times perfect, aligns its cylinders, and I want it and the price is good, well....

Unfortunately, K frame Smiths seem to ALL miss that last one, price is right. Taurus, the revolvers at least, are well priced around here used or new. I took a chance on one, but the price was such and I wanted a 3" gun bad enough I took it. It was a little out of time and the crane had a lot of slop. BUT, I found the problem, didn't even require a gunsmith, was a simple fix, and now I've got an excellent medium frame 3" carry I paid $180 for and it shoots accurately and 100 percent. Timing is now perfect and there is very little play. I got off light on that one, coulda been worse. If it'd been something I couldn't handle, I'd have tried out that Taurus service, or lack there of. :D

I stated this someplace before. I worked in 3 Gunshops part time for 7 or 8 years. I have seen good and bad from Ravan to Razzini. Just like anything you buy. Some days you get the Elevator, some days you get the Shaft.

Well, we finally got that missing original thread located in another forum section...thanks for clearing that up. And it is indeed suspect on double posting trying to raise hell against Taurus.

I also know that Taurus isn't infallible, then neither is any other major gun manufactuer, and if you preach they are then you are certainly biais.

Look for the good you get out of a product, and if you can't find it, leave it be.

Taurus isn't the only revolver I own, I like S&W and Colt as well...if they are the older models. Don't care for the new stuff they make today as they are not worth the money they are asking for.

The Taurus Tracker in .45 Colt is no longer in production. But neither is this Colt .44 magnum Anaconda...but I still value them both highly.

Thinking for one's self is the best course to pursue, never jump on another man's wagon if its hauling ferdlizer. :scrutiny:

Heh heh, I just invested in another Tauri, one made in the 1990's. :D

In one of my favorite calibers...44 special, my other fave is .45 Colt, followed by its minions: .45 acp, .45 Auto Rim.
