Nice find! I love shopping Taurus revolvers at gun shows, excellent deals to be made. Here's my best find so far, the nickel 4" on top, $197. The blued 3" 66 on the bottom was $180 on a table full of $300 model 10s and $400 and up M19s. I talked him down from 200 because it wasn't timed well and had crane play. When I got it home, I found someone had re-assembled it wrong and got the wrong screw in the forward side plate hole. When properly assembled, it times perfectly and the play is gone. :D Both revolvers are fantastically accurate, the 4" a little better. The 4" has a really slick action/DA and SA. It's the newer transfer bar action. The older gun, the blued 3", isn't quite as slick, but still not bad. It has the hammer block older action. In my experience, Taurus has gotten better and better which seems to be the antithesis of Smith and Wesson. Taurus really improved with the new transfer bar action IMHO.

My Taurus model 650 CIA .357 feels better in my hand and has the best trigger than my son's S&W 640, my other son's Ruger SP-101, or my wife's S&W 642.

How soon people forget. We've been through this a dozen times or more just in the last month at these boards.Figures the old trash would be trotted out.

There are good reasons to go with Taurus. That's what the links area about.
Rossi makes the 971 and Taurus has the 65,66 and Tracker series for consideration.
Since what I was going to say is somewhere in the links I will let them do the"talking".

While these links are not from here the old arguments that Taurus is garbage have been tried, convicted and laid to rest for the most part. As others have said, all brands, makes and models have their bad moments. There are even new models put out by "top brand makers" that are having some teething troubles yet they are not wholesale condemned.
The gun forums are full of those having 'troubles' with their pet guns. Some serious, some not. Are we to take it that these are all garbage? Could go to the other threads and post this as so because'evidence' here and at other gun forums support that assertion. What a crock.

Posts: 400 There are plenty of police departments that might find that one interesting. They have documented their findings as to their use of the Rugers. This includes the P89,P95(9mm.) and P90 (.45ACP).

Accuracy has been at or almost tack driving ability. For combat use that is all that is needed.

Accuracy for each pistol on a case by case basis with various loads can be tried until the combo that delivers acceptable accuracy and is a JHP come about.

That's how the criterea are based on. There are some generalizations that can be made about accuracy for a given brand but those are pretty broad as things stand.

At both the Ruger forums the owners talk about good accuracy, good solid performance, and the dureability of their pistols. This is not just a bias.

There are many professional shooting trainers and gun writers who state this as well as fact. Not hype.

One gun problem does not make a condemnation of a whole line. There are those who come in here and do just that or scoff at other's choices. They not need come in here to any thread if they do not like that particular arm. Yet they chose to do so.

If there is a flagrant solid proof that a brand is lousy then they would not be bought and the company goes out of business or the company drops the line completely.

Gun Tests lately has given the SIG GSR a 'conditional buy only' rating and said others should pass totally on used SIG 225s and why. SIG Mosquito got a "conditional buy" rating as well for poor DA and SA trigger pulls. All the reasons why are documented in their periodical. Guess I won't be buying any SIGs as they all are crap ,if I follow the logic.. or rather lack of, by the those who dump on any brand.

No brand of gun has the "upper hand" over all others in every department. That is subjective. Otherwise the gun buying public would foresake all other brands if that were totally true.

Not saying that there aren't occasional problems. All brands have and do. They're mechanical contrivances for Pete's sake.

There is a precedant for the P95 being a good gun.
What others are happy with, good for them. Glad what they have works for them.

I probably won't ever buy a SIG. Don't fit me and never will. Those who have them, great. Glad you like them.

Ruger P95 and P97 just barely fit.
Case by case basis of what works for each individual.
