With all the negative threads blaming others for their failures and "hoarding" I want to speak out that some of us thank you for your recent purchases and investments in ammo, firearms and firearms related products. All the Billions of dollars rolling into the industry is a huge boom to the 2nd Amendment and every dollar spent makes the anti's cry. 19 million new gun sales and vast quantities of ammo in the last year alone. Bravo!
If you prepared years in advance, just getting caught up, new to firearms or are an active capitalist currently engaged in buying low selling high. Thank you. Please keep it up, buy more, pile it deep, keep it, sell it, shoot it or what ever you want. I for one applaude those who buy all they can and sell it for as much profit as possible. I know it helps us all in the end. Don't let the socialists and whiners discourage you. Spend what you wish, and do with it what you wish.

That means more new gun owners, investment, jobs and huge growth in 2nd Amendment related industries. That's more security for the 2nd amendment and all Americans.
I especially want to thank those who either planned ahead and stocked up when it was cheap, or are right now cleaning off the shelves of your local LGS store at current market prices. We prove we understand how supply and demand work. Capitalism works. I praise those making what ever profit they can by auctioning what they have. Invest at Walmart profit on GunBroker. Three cheers for the investors!

I am disgusted by attempts at price controls or rationing. I'd prefer to see a single box of ammo with a $100 price tag than an empty shelf. I have no sympathy for LGS who go bankrupt with empty shelves because they refused to increase prices or do transfers for $5. They failed at capitalism. Good riddance. Try Cuba. They still dig that old school communism.
To the rest, the market will stabilize in the coming months. I hope LGS make lots of profit while the getting is good. Reloading is becoming more cost effective. Buy in bulk or a little at a time. Jump on good deals when you can. Buy it cheap, stack it deep. I recommend everyone get an AR-15, minimum 2k of ammo and 20 full capacity mags ASAP. If you just starting now you will have to pay record prices, hunt for deals or wait a while. If your looking for investments stocks in gun makers like Ruger and S&W look like good buys or just buy more guns and ammo than you need, store them well and resell when you retire or at the next panic craze. Garands from the CMP will also probably increase in value well.

Most importantly only vote pro 2nd amendment and do not vote for those incumbent law makers who voted against our rights. State and federal. No matter what party.

Your welcome, and it was my pleasure, lol

By your estimation though, CTD should be near and dear to everyones hearts with their actions the last four months with their outrageous ammo and firearm prices, because at least they had them...and they aren't. Quiet the opposite, I've never seen one business so lampooned by its targeted customer base.
MidwayUSA was the first business mentioned in the recent "which stores are at the top of your list after this fiasco" thread. Brownells was close behind.

One had all the crazy-expensive ammo and guns you wanted,
The others let you back-order at reasonable prices, and limited customer purchases. "Rationing" you could call it.

I think the reason CTD is getting lampooned and the others are not is because this is temporary. If the house was in D hands and Feinstein's dream bill was heading to Obama's desk the prices would be justified.

Panic leads to funny stuff though. Cannot wait to see mag prices in CO in June.

My vendors after this will be:

LGS (Vance Outdoors)
LGS (The Sportsmans Den)
Powder Valley
Natchezs
Wideners
Aim Surplus
Berrys
Missouri Bullet
Midsouth
Walmart

If you only care about low price then you should always buy from Botach tactical or the guy on the corner selling out of his trunk. You'd get what you pay for. Botach is even cheaper, and has earned the worst rep in the industry.
Shaking your fist at the gas pump doesn't make fuel prices come down either.

I would prefer to buy what I need, want, or use simply because I need, want, or use it without thousands of nannies nagging...

But if the best we can do is buy it because it makes antis cry, I guess that's OK too.

Been to the range lately? Last time I was back in January it was rather sparce with people, I hear that is a common thing these days. Why? Because people can't find ammo or can't afford the inflated price.

A friend and I would like to go to the range but he won't because 9mm is hard to find.

How is that for stimulating the shooting sports industry?

The anti's would be happy to know less people are getting trigger time.

There was also the 130,000-ton asteroid near-miss of earth on February 15.

Perhaps it sucked all the ammo shelves dry due to the anti-magnetic attraction of lead??

Hey!
It could happen.

I seen it on the Internet!
And the Internet don't lie!

You make no sense?????????????
I have a very good LGS in which i buy all my ammo, guns, etc.....
They have empty shelves because THEY CANT GET PRODUCT.

Or am i missing something in your statement?

I get that people want a good deal, and it's only natural that when they feel like they are getting ripped off, they don't like it. I remember in Dec, when there were NO mags to be found online, CTD had this ONE AR-15 mag left in stock. It was an old GI mag, looked beat to crap. They were selling it for 99 DOLLARS!

I laughed, but hey, if someone wanted to buy it. Fine. If I was desperate enough, I'd have bought it myself. I'd have been a little pi$$ed, but probably mostly at myself for waiting too long. But nobody twisted my arm. Everybody likes a good deal, and nobody likes a bad one. I doubt many on here truly believes in 'price fixing', they're probably just blowing off steam, because again, nobody likes a bad deal, that's all.

I'm also glad everybody bought what they did. It's showed support for the 2A in a way I don't think the anti folks expected. When people vote with their wallets, for items that are not cheap, in THIS economy, that's a powerful statement, and I think it really helped the 2A in this latest round of 'rights infringement' by the anti's.

If they had raised their prices would they still have product on their shelves? At $100 per box, it would still be there right? They kept their prices below what the market would bear with limited supply. This is probably temporary. If not they failed at capitalism.

As a business owner myself i would never raise the prices that high just to keep product on my shelf. Just not the correct thing to do.

Then the "correct thing to do" would be to close your doors. You have no product. Your out of the business. Next.

You are still out of business when you raise the prices so high nobody will buy anything. And will never come back.

Apparently you have never actually owned a business. Extreme arguments look good on paper to those that use just logic or just emotion. The truth lies in between.

Academically you can raise prices to meet current market bubbles and that could seem like the correct decision but you will loose customers in the process and be left with a less successful business after said bubble bursts.

Ever hear, "Hogs get fat, pigs get slaughtered.."?

Business rely on repeat customers. 80% of sales comes from 20% of your regular customers.

Went to an outdoor range in SE Wisconsin two weeks ago, lots of people shooting. Temp was hovering around 32f, snow on the ground and range was hot. On Wisconsin!

You said they can't get product. How do empty shelves lead to repeat customers? You repeatedly can't get ammo there?

So you are telling me that keep a insane price on supplies you are going to be in business?
It maybe a short term idea. but it is bad business practice.
How do you make money if you are not selling product? Yes it goes both ways but you rely on repeat business. Your LGS is better off than you think right now.

The situation where a small group of people have the time and leisure to spend hours quite often waiting to enter WalMart or BassPro/Dick's etc early in the morning and scarf up ammo is not free capitalism.

Many of us can not and often are out of town in a hotel with no car, or time to do rent one and camp out.

Thank G** there is much more cash flowing into the NRA's seperate branches, so that we can better struggle to limit the loss of our gun freedoms.

It is a market which is rigged for those who can schedule this into their daily activities.
Many of us can not and often are out of town with no access to such choices.

"Free capitalism"? Baloney is the polite word. Friends from Mitteleuropa have a different type of expression.
I've had over four thousand rds. of center-fire ammo since '09, having prepared for both elections etc, but a market is only free if everybody has equal access on the same days, in case a shipment of certain items were put on board.
You do realize that you just made his point. That is what price controls and rationing have done.

The best way to look at it is when the market turns the other way. Not a single person on this thread pays the original price instead of the closeout price because it is the right thing to do. It goes both way

I am 100% behind everything the OP said. I could not have said it better myself.
