Uh, didn't S&W say that the only way they could stabilize the 460 was via gain-twist rifling? How you gonna gain-twist a short barrel?

treebeard, you would be surprised of the lack of recoil of the X frames. I have a 4 inch 500 Mag and shoot 575 gr. hot loads in it, yes the recoil is very stout but manageable. I don't recommend the 500 mag for everyone especially if someone is recoil sensitive. :D

Redhawk is right the snubbies are not that bad to shoot

I've said ti before and will say it again i would rather shoot my 500 4" vs my 7.5" SRH 454 Casull
I've shoot both a lot but the 500 is a lot tamer to hand that comp works and works well.

With the Muffs on i cant really tell the difference between 500 and 454 when shooting but being behind some one shooting it ya feel a lot more of a concussion wave from the 500 than 454

treebeard, I have let a lot of people shoot my 4 inch 500 Mag and they liked it. There are a couple of people that shot it that went and got a 500 Mag. :D

I'm curious about this also.

Are these x-frames a 5 or 6 shot ?

I think its a nice looking pistol. But if I were going to get something that big with a short barrel it would be the 50 version.
