the men grabbed for the other woman's purse and duFresne intervened, asking, "What are you going to do, shoot us?" A man then fired one shot at her, police said.
Mr. Sparks (her fiance) said Ms. duFresne was strongly against capital punishment, and would have felt some sympathy for her young attacker. "This isn't about some bad, murdering criminal," he said. "It's about a culture that makes it so easy for kids to have guns."
Too bad we can't ask her about her views on capital punishment now.Mr. Sparks (her fiance) said Ms. duFresne was strongly against capital punishment, and would have felt some sympathy for her young attacker.
No, it's about a culture that produces easy victims. And yes, it is about some bad murdering criminal (such as the one that cut down his intended wife)."This isn't about some bad, murdering criminal," he said. "It's about a culture that makes it so easy for kids to have guns."
The boyfriend was on "Good Morning, America" this morning. Strange duck. No discernable anger. He hopes the shooter is captured, sent to prison, and comes out of prison a better man for his experience.
It's obvious her and her shooter had diametrically opposing viewpoints.Too bad we can't ask her about her views on capital punishment now
I have a better idea...He hopes the shooter is captured, sent to prison, and comes out of prison a better man for his experience.
Maybe one way to clean up problems like this is to use the death penalty in a new way. Take the criminal to the city and execute him in public. Invite the gangs, the robbers, rapists and the typical low-lifes and show them right there that things are going to change. And tell the ACLU to take a flying leap.
I agree completly. They were pretty ignorant to go there unprepared, when the place is known for such activity. The same goes for unarmed Americans in Iraq.I might get flamed for this but try to understand my point before you start flaming.
It is my opinion that these folks had no buisness in that part of NYC to begin with ....this tragic story happened in a ugly part of town that is being invaded by naive out of town "artsy" type folks who are looking for cheap rent and are trying to carve out a little piece of the city for themselves....good luck.
How do I know this?......I live there and have lived there my entire life.
True they have every legal right to go anywhere they choose to go and I support them doing so but you have to understand how naive some people are to there surroundings....this is a bad and dangerous place and no matter how artistic and full of love you are you better watch your ass and use common sense.
Flame on!

I couldnt agree moreNO. It's not about guns, it's about a culture that will not punish bad, murdering criminals. and makes it easy for kids to get away with awful crimes.
Nicole was a MN native but she had spent several years of her life out here in Seattle. She moved from here to NYC.These MN natives have assimilated well in to the NYC liberal culture.
It sounds like the shooter didn't really care about taking a life once the girl confronted him. Isn't that somethink like "Depraved Indifference"
