Those @#$%& cats again!

I haven't had good luck with cats and no longer own any. My neighbor across the street is a cat killer and has killed one of mine...as well as a dog of mine. Since I have promised that I'm not going to tolerate any more of that type of behavior from him...I try to avoid the day of reckoning.

I had a cat once that had a vengeful streak. If you offended her then she would find a new litter box...your pillow. And no, her selection was not at random; there was never an episode that cause and effect was not readily apparent.

Cat. Its whats on the walls.

Actually have two feline girls, Maggie and Mollie. Black and whiter mousers par excellance.

In the 2 years we've been out in the country, they've "gifted" us with a dozen field mice, a squirrel, a 3 ft water snake, a mole, and several birds.

They're good to keep the various vermin down.

Tory,
The farm cats we had were absolutly useless. The only function they had was eating our dog's food and sh***ing on everything. we tried several times to get rid of them(Relocate) but they always seemed to find their way back.
Rather than spending $75 per cat to have them fixed, we took care of them in the most humane way we had available. I am NOT a sadist, nor do I plink critters just for the h**l of it. I believe in being a good steward of what we have been given to use on this planet. The comment was meant as a JOKE.

Faithless, I dig it :D

I've got a fixed female outside yellow cat named Mollie, this week I have seen her kill and eat two mice, one mole, one rat, two small rabbits, one bird, and two chipmunks. Preacherman, I had back surgery a few years back, was a pain but I'd do it again immediately if necessary. Until you have experienced the unrelenting sensation (months) of a ruptured disc raping a sciatic nerve you just havent had the proper respect for pain. It will get better.

I never could understand why, that whenever anyone starts a cat thread it gets jumped on by all the kitten stompers. Why don't they just scroll on by?
:cuss: :banghead:  :fire:
Here is my house varmint "Fritz" studying his new (old) Winchester 69 dual sight. :neener:

Some animals just deserve a pluck from a BB.
It's nothing more than a long range slap/spank.
EG: That dog across the street. Quiet as can be when its masters are gone...but it's so spoiled. Barks non stop--really--when they're home.
Thankfully they're not home much.

Roadkill, I do know exactly what you mean... my pain has been 24/7 since February last year, when I injured myself at work (and thank Heaven that, if I had to have this, it happened at work! If it hadn't, I'd have been bankrupt and on the street months ago, what with no income and six-figure medical bills... at least Workers Comp has paid for everything so far!) I've probably got some permanent damage to the sciatic nerve, so the next step will probably be electrical stimulation of the nerve for pain relief.

My cats have behaved themselves today, except for one thing... whenever I go into the kitchen area, they hang around the cupboard where my ammo is stored, purring loudly, pawing at the doors, and looking hopefully at me. I suspect they've decided that this is a wonderful new game - and when can they play it again, Daddy? :D

Preacherman, give it time. Stay active but don't go too far. Walk as much as you can. I had let mine go so long I was walking like Quasimoto. My left leg calf muscle had deteriorated 35% because I favored the leg. I had got to the point where I could not drive a straight shift because I couldnt get my left leg up on the clutch, had to take steps one at a time, crawed out of my car like a wood grub, would take 20 minutes to get out of bed, couldn't put on my socks, looked like a perverted gymnast while trying to put on my underwear. The feeling will return (did on me anyway) after a while. It will get better but is hard to handle right now. It never crosses my mind now. All better. Aren't you down in the south somewhere? IM me, I thinkk we are real close. I'd be glad to help.

I've only seen one cat that has seriously bothered me. My friend back home had a family cat that seemed to have a trememdous amount of trauma behind it because it scowled and hissed at everything that moved and allegedly liked to attack shins at random.

Needless to say, I found it to be a good idea to wear combat/hiking boots when I visted.

Slow down a bit folks...

Chris - we now know what the younger ones are doing a Teoma search for. :D

I admit I am not a cat person.

Classmate from the other college contacted me after she had moved. We used to study together at her house -a rental.

Seems as if the landlord contacted her...found a loaded mag for a 1911...shotshells, various other firearm related stuff...pipe broke, he found these in doing repairs. Did not belong to the new tenants ( this couple reeled back at the sight of "gun stuff") - so he contacted the last tenant, my classmate.

Always wondered where that Colt mag went... I figured the paraboli got it - College Algebra:p

Good story. I've got 2 beautiful Tonks. Max, the Platinum Mink was rolling a .308 blank around the floor the other day. A few of them were sitting on my dresser for only a day, honest. It's not as if they don't have enough toys. When I first brought my AR-15 home, I took it apart to clean it. As I was holding the newly cleaned weapon, my Bluepoint, Gunner, was frantically pawing at the barrel wanting to check it out. Naturally I laid it down for his inspection. Evidently he approved of the weapon and the cleaning, because he looked it up and down then rubbed his stamp of approval on the handguard. Definitely a daddy's boy. ;)

My GF loves cats and seems bent on getting another one.

The last expierience I had with cats was when I was a child. This outdoor cat used to stop by the backdoor and paw at the screen a bit. My mother, cat lover she is, used to let him in and give him food and water. He enjoyed this and kinda became our pet. One day, we let him in after he knocked. Thinking nothing of it, we went about whatever we were doing that day. The TV, however had been removed and sent for repair. The cat took one look at the empty space where the TV was, turned around and raised his tail and pee'd all over the wall. As if this weren't bad enough, he ran off up the stairs and hid in a closet when my mother tried to catch him. The little monster stayed there for two hours before he came out and was summarily dismissed.

No cats ever again in that house. GF wants when, but Guinness the super beagle will probably take issue with that. Thankfully, he was here first and kittah won't stay long if it doesn't get along with mah beagle buddy.

Good story Preacherman. I live in a house also shared by two cats, a Lab and an 11 month old German Shepherd, 94lbs and growning. Want to see heads turn, watch a Shepherd running around the yard with a cat.

My daughter is into horses. This week at the stables with a new client for riding lessons. The barn cat finds and maims a young rat, brings it out and drops it at the feet of the new client. Now that's a show!

Glad to hear the back is doing better.

cats,backs and other things

I (my wife) have 6 cats from 4 to 22 years old.they stay out of my things.I had my first back surgery in 1991 and my last in 1997. I have A S.C.S. implant in my spine along with bolts;wire and battres. I hope you have better luck. I spend all my time in my chair with wheels..but it is ele. so I still shoot a little every day. as long as you dont give up no one can get you down . may you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live

You do have some crazed cats. They are endless hours of entertainment and cleaning.

Our wild lap cat wants nothing more than to be pet until his fur falls out. He's noisy, but he never lets us get lonely. I'm going to miss him some day.

Glad the back is better!

Have had a few (vy minor, compared to yours) problems with mine, treated with muscle relaxants and pain killers. Yup, that sciatica is a bitch, had me lying down gasping, a time or two.

Concur with the guy above that it's way cool that there is a real rat zinger (like my kitty) for Pope now. I'm not Roman, disagree with lots of the doctrine, am a very bad Christian of my own sort, but I do wish people would stop ragging on Benedict for sticking with the program, i.e. "Agree to these conditions, and do these things, or you can't really call yerself one of us."

It's really cool that kitties like him.

I think of Saint Francis, and Brother Juniper. (Though Saint Dymphna will always have a special place in my wetware):)
