Tikka T3 - Not Only for Hunters..A Viable Match Option

Very nice, but I thought the heading indicated you were shooting a stock T3.
By the time you get through with it, all that remains will be the action.

Being the owner of a T3, I would be concerned about how quickly their barrels heat-up.

Mine (.30-'06) shoots awesome for the first 2-3 shots, then things start to open up a bit.

I know all rifles shoot better cold, but my experience has been that the T3 is only average after a few shots......but match grade when cold.

I was not impressed with my T3's accuracy at all. I figured if I was going to have a gun with mediocre accuracy, it would at least be made in the USA, so I traded for a Ruger Hawkeye.

Only other thing that I will be swapping out is the stock, which I'm currently waiting for. People that shoot the type of matches I compete in are usually running full blown customs. The only factory rifles are from AI or Sako and the like. I just think that it's a much better option than a Remington 700 or Savage to do a build off of.

I've got a Tikka T3 in .30-'06 and I was stunned at the accuracy - in a good way. I found that it likes the bullets seated .030" off the lands, and when I do my part, it certainly does its part. Even as the barrel warms, it's easy to stay under an inch at 100 yards.

The only thing about a factory Tikka in a heavy caliber... it's a very, very light rifle and it does a number on your shoulder.
