Well, if you are like me and can't think of ten just contribute with as many as you can.

I like to think of "gun movies" as movies in which guns play a promenant role, are highlighted in major ways and are identifiable, and also movies that have had the greatest influence on what gun buyers buy.

Here are my favorites...

1. Enemy at the Gates - my all time favorite at this point.

2. Dirty Harry

3. I saw a movie a few years ago about two sharp shooter friends who wound up on opposite sides in the Serbian Bosnian conflict and wound up hunting each other but can't recall the name.

4. Jacki Brown

5. Pulp Fiction

Ok, what else do I need to watch that I haven't watched.

In no order....

1. Dirty Harry...until then the 44 nag was just another revolver
2. Quigly Down Under....need I say more..
3. Enemy at the Gates...watching Nazis and Commies kill each other is good for the soul.
4. Full Metal Jacket...there are many others but this one is Mine
5.Sniper...love the catoon reticles in the optics on top of such gems as fake PSG1s....
6. Predator...can you say...belt fed...
7. Black Hawk Down...aimed fire always beats gereral blasting
8. Heat...all I ever watch is the Bank Robbery scene
9. Zulu...FAHR...RELOAD..NEXT RANK...FAHR...RELOAD...NEXT RANK...gives me wood
10Winchester 73.....

How about spear movies...anyone remember Cornell Wilde in the Naked Prey?

The movie is called:

" Shot through the heart "

Way of The Gun
Enemy At The Gates
Saving Private Ryan
Blackhawk Down
Quigly Down Under
Dirty Harry

My vote...

Black Hawk Down
Tears of the Sun
Way of the Gun (there was schweet 1911 handling in this movie by the bad guys!!)

Many of my favorites have already been listed above...to add

-Clint Eastwood's Just pick any/ all ...especially the "Spagetti Westerns"- the whole lot! :D

- John Wayne , Just pick any / all from his career.

-Wild Bunch

-Magnifigent Seven

- Bullett

-We Were Soldiers

Just about any Western by Sergio Leone. I mean, he raised the gunfight to new levels of inconography (he was to the gunfight what Kurasawa was to the Samurai showdown) .

Of course, there was nothing realistic in Leone's West whatsoever, but you just have to love the poetry of it. I could watch the final showdown between Frank and Harmonica in Once Upon a Time in the West for two days straight and probably still never get tired of how Leone shot that thing, his use of space and tight closeups, and how Bronson and Henry Fonda moved and related to each other with practically no dialog.

Oh, and let's not forget "Last Man Standing". For pure over-the-top 1911 goodness, it's hard to beat. Not a great film, but for what it is it's a kick.

"The Thin Red Line"
The original 1964 version starring Keir Dullea and Jack Warden.
Shows why a handgun can be very handy in a combat theater.

Forget that pathetic remake from 1998. :barf:

Just to add a few..

Equilibrium ( Gun Kata! )
The Replacement Killers
El Mariachi
Any one of the Matrix movies

Besides what was already listed, here are some others I like:

Die Hard
Commando
Bad Boys
Terminator

Add to that, the "Trinity"( My Name is Nobody, They Call me Trinity, My Name is Still Trinity) series. Spaghetti westerns, and loved the comedy, and how "quick" he was with a gun, and so off handed about it.

I'll add another vote or two for "My Name is Nobody", as well as the sequel. I'll kick in another one for Band of Brothers too.

In no particular order:

1)Hard Boiled -The movie Hollywood plagiarized action from for nearly a decade.
2)Way of the Gun
3)The Matrix
4)Equilibrium
5)Bullet In The Head
6)The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, or any Sergio Leone Western for that matter
7)The Wild Bunch
8)Heat
9)Dawn of the Dead- both the original and the 2003 remake.
10)Aliens

Honorable mention:

A Bridge Too Far
Bangkok Dangerous
Time And Tide

The defunct television series Firefly.
Firefly probably has the most eclectic selection of firearms of any story put to film. Everything from six-shooters and lever actions to AK's and ray guns.
