Hopefully this was a good decision.

Found a good looking cz sp01 9mm used in the lgs. Previously wanted one of those and since I have a cz 75 and a cz 85, I decided to trade in my 75 which has had an adjustable sight placed on it ($125) and payed $165 extra. The gun had an old cz case and only 1 18 round mag plus a regular 16 rds mag and no cz papers but doesn't look like it's been shot too much. The trigger still isn't as smooth as the one I traded in. It has night sights that still glow but of course is not adjustable. Hopefully it shoots to point of aim.

Here it is cleaned and lubed.

I think you did well. It certainly looks brand new in the picture.

Question for you: are those really night sights or are they just glow-in-the-dark painted dots? Those sights look identical to mine and I don't consider them night sights. Decent night sights are on my to-do list.

The SP-01 is an awesome gun. You will like it better than the 75 you traded off.

It does say trijicon on the side and does look thick compared to the usual cz sights. It also came with rubber grips.

There's some smudge on the crown that I can't get off with mpro7.so after cleaning the bore with Shooters choice Im leaving the crown saturated in hoppes bench rest 9 overnight. I think it's just powder residue and I looked at the crown so far seems symmetrical.

i like the CZ-75 SP-01, its easily one of my most favorite pistols.. combine its ergos, low felt recoil and muzzle flip, reliability, accuracy and its price tag and its hard to beat it, plus it seems to be one of the few real full size pistols you can still get with a steel frame

Congrats. I would love to hear your impressions after you shoot it. I'm in the market for a full size, hammer fired, all metal 9mm pistol with a safety or decocker, so the CZ 75/85 and SP-01 are on my short list.

Sounds like you made a decent deal there with the SP-01. Would like to get one some day to go along with my P01.

Sounds like you made a good deal, Roval.

I have had a CZ 75 for many, many years, and it is a great shooter, but I also moved to something a bit more portable. I recently picked up two CZ Compact 9s (two is one and one is none, as they say...) and a CZ 2075 RAMI as daily carry options and general shooting. I have been ecstatic with these guns, and I expect you will find the same with your SP01.

Very good trade.

I have a P-01 with rail and a 75BD without a rail. Though the rail-less CZs are nicer looking IMO, I like the weight distribution and feel of the railed ones.

Looking forward to shooting it. While I had the barrel out I plunk tested my typical 147 gr reload and it looks like the case is above the edge of the barrel hood so I looked at the barrel of my cz 85 and it's the exact same thing. I've never had any problems
shooting that load in my previous 75 or 85. Will see how it goes.

With the exchange of the 75 for the sp01, i now have variety. The pcr was also bought used.

Guess I'm "that guy".

If I wanted an 01 (to be fair, I don't) and had 75 anything like mine - first run/no mods, I'd buy the 01 but keep the 75.

You however, seem quite happy so: good on ya!

Todd.

Sounds like a great addition. I've always wanted to try one of those. Now...your collection is complete, right? :)

I'm anxiously waiting for my CZ 75B SA to show up that I recently ordered.
I've been looking for a service sized pistol that I enjoy shooting as much as my revolvers.
Glocks definitely weren't my thing after trying alot of them. After comparing a Cz 75BD and a SP-01 (in 40sw) with a bunch of Sigs and HK head to head I went and scored a CZ 75B SA for 439 off Gunbroker.
I feel real good about my decision and feel I got a real good deal. Range report to follow once it shows up.

Gotta love winning a no reserve auction with an opening bid!

To Jim NE....Complete.....right. I would like to some day see a 97B to see if it will fit my hand and I'm willing to trade in my sig227 towards it if it fits. But I really would like a tactical sport 9mm. Then I wouldn't lust after a 75sao.

Nice I have a 75 pre B, 75B, Kadet, Kadet Kit, PCR, and 97B so I am steeped in the CZ coolaid. My friend has an SP-01 and he put a lighter hammer spring in, and it really helped the trigger which wasn't bad anyway, but now it is great.

Pilot, I'm in there steeping with ya, and enjoying it except for the damage to the pocketbook. 85 Combat, stainless 75B, Kadet Kit, 97B, and 75D PCR here, and regretting not picking up a nice pre-B 75 a couple weeks ago for $350. I was trying to exercise a little restraint, now exercising regret. :)

Do you notice much difference between the Pre B and the B? I wonder if it's about the same as the difference between the 85 Combat (no FP block, slightly better trigger) and the 75B?

I find the Pre B trigger a bit better, and I like the spur hammer but it is mostly aesthetics.

roval,

Nice group! How would you compare the three guns in terms of accuracy, fun to shoot, or other shooting and handling characteristics?

I just posted my range report on the sp01 just now.
The cz 85 has the best trigger. Doesn't have a firing pin block and I've dry fired it quite a bit. In fact the trigger of the 75 I traded in was smoother as its quite broken in . The 85 also has an overtravel screw adjustment which makes it nice. The pcr has a heavier trigger even in single action but in all fairness I haven't shot it as much as it has fixed sights and I have to have a slight 6 o'clock hold at 25 yrds.

Accuracy wise they are good. I will post the first shots I took with my pcr. It groups well. The sp01 was only shot by me today and it's plenty accurate enough for me. I shot it just as good as the 85 even if the trigger is still rougher at this point. It will get better.

Handling wise they are all good as I love the palm swell of cz and all of these have the rubber grips which I favor. The sp01 though heavy, balances well. I let some of the range regulars shoot both the 85 and the sp01 and the comment regarding well balanced was mentioned by both.

The pic attached is the first 2 magazines I fired out of the pcr offhand at 10 yrds. 2nd group was after adjusting to the sight picture.

My first trip to the range with my newly acquired CZ75BD, It wasn't a technical shoot, I just wanted to familiarize myself to the working of the gun, I shot at a variety of distances from 5yds to over 30 very impressed, the target posted is the last one which is a combination of shots taken at 20 & 30 yds. the gun was flawless. I was really looking for a sp01, but I just couldn't find one that was CA compliant, I seen this 75BD & couldn't refuse

They sure are good shooters. The triggers do improve with more use and dry firing. If you like it now you'll like it more in a few months.

Compact D w/Decocker

Kadet conversation
SP-01 Phantom
97BD

Had a SP-01 Tactical, great gun but really heavy in comparison to my SP-01/Phantom.

The 97BD is really great with the aluminum grips making it thin enough for average size hands. The recoil of the 97 is similar to most 9mm, only downside is 10 round magazine limit.

I have just purchased a pre-B (86), finish is a little rough but the action is as smooth as silk.

The Compact D is a recent import from Europe. You won't find a all steel compact with a decocker otherwise.
