Does anyone own this sling?

Is it a good buy? I'm trying to decide what color, tan or brown. My M1 has dark brown (with maybe even a hint of red) stocks. Which one is appropriate for a post-WW2 HRA M1? Any pics of your turner slings?

that is about what other premium slings go for. Brownell's has some nice ones (some for more than that), but i like the turner stuff too.
the tan ones will turn brown with age and some boot grease (helps to waterproof it also)
that's not a bad deal. it's more than a lot of slings cost, but it is a much better sling than the economy slings.

When did Garands become issued with the green canvas slings?? Did soldiers and Marines fighting in the Pacific have leather slings? You would think that the humidity in parts of the Pacific theatre would destroy the leather after awhile?

I bought a "cosmetic second" Turner sling (It's supposed to have cosmetic blemishes on the leather but be functionally perfect) for, uh. . . $30-35. I got the black leather one and put it on my M1 Garand. It's a thick and beefy sling, but it is well made. Although I still need some more practice with it, it is fun to shoot prone-sling supported with it ;) .

My buddy got the "all weather synthetic" version, which is supposed to resist stretching better than leather, but I think with those you have to pay full price. HTH.

The leather slings were pretty much natural. The tan would fit the best. Correct for your rifle would be the green canvas sling. In WW2 they were switching to the tan canvas sling and it eventually evolved into the green canvas.

Natedog;

Let me put it this way; I was so unhappy with my first Turner sling that I bought another.

I've now got one of each, black & tan. I could use detachable sling swivels & switch them from gun to gun as needed, but instead, I think I just may buy more Turner slings.

I must be a reversecontraindicatedpseudomashochist. Ain't that there pO-litically kerrect speech fun?

Have one in black on my M1A. Absolutely love it. Mr. Turner is a great guy and is more than willing to chat with you on the care, feeding and use of his slings (as well as politics, shooting, hunting, politics, shooting, etc.); that alone is worth the price of admission, :)
